lighting for seedlings?

If i have my seedlings under my 600 hps light for 16 hours with my vegging plants,, will this be enough light or will 24 hours make that much of a difference? for my seedling growth, or do i need to buy a cfl

16 hours under a 600w hps would be fine i think mate, new to this stuff too but have been reading up often and i hear 20-4 cycle is better then a 24 one, people say they need to get a little sleep at least. so if your going to switch, no need to go with 24 hour lights. again could be wrong and may be corrected by some genius on this site but hey, its some feedback.

That's what I do too, A little extra light to help them out some. It's like growing weed in Alaska/summertime, is how I rationalized it.

CFLs are cheaper to run seedlings dont need that much light intensity as youngins

ya but i was thinking it would be more efficent to just use the light that im using on my current plants thats in vegging mode so i could set my seedlings by them,, but maybe i should get a cfl and run it seperatly for my seedlings

the bottom is fine just i wouldnt put it close to them
