Lighting question

Okay, so if I am now using a 400W MH bulb for vegging, how close (or far away) should I have the bulb to the plants?

Put your hand under the light and hold it there for 60 seconds or so. If you can do it and be comfortable. It should be ok for your plants. I use a 400 watt MH in my budbox and my tips are about 7 inches from the bulb. The closer the better, but make sure your plants aren't getting scorched. Make sure you have adequate ventilation.

There is such a thing as giving your plants too much light. The hand trick does work but my plants are always happier wen the bulbs are higher. Do the hand trick and then go 6 in or so above that and ull never have heat stress issues

go like 14 to 18 inches for veg 8 to 10 for flower

Yeah, I think I'm about convinced I was heat stressing my plants. On another note, it's so nice to be able to ask a question and get some answers rather than the, "have you searched for so and so" police. Thanks much...you guys rock!

Yea they help more people than just you when they give it to you straight!
Instead of taking 20 mins. of pounding on their keyboard telling you the "have you searched for" speech!
Some times I wonder if the ones that do that is because they have NO CLUE??? or their just Asshats.
I do enjoy a good read but if it starts with "have you searched for so and so" I don't read it too well./ to next Post.
