Lighting question

hey guys. I have a 400W metal halide/HPS fixture but i need to get a bulb. I was looking for a metal halide bulb and found two, one is 3200K and the other is 6000K. my question is, which one is closer to what the plant needs, the 3200K or the 6000K?

Thanks

Generally, which will produce better results during veg phase, a 3200K metal halide or a 6000K metal halide?

a 3200k mh lamp is a pulse start lamp...
the 6000k lamp is more than likely probe start....

so the real question here... is what kind of ballast do you have.. probe or pulse?

because its switchable, its probably a pulse start metal halide ballast... so i would go with the 3200k ;) it is also a redder light, which will help you out in early flower.

okay, thanks for the info. I do have a HPS bulb that I'm going to use for flowering, but i'll probably go with what you suggested.

I still wanted to know though, which will produce better results during veg phase, a 3200K metal halide or a 6000K metal halide?

Yeah, definitely go with the 6000K, if it's compatible with your ballast. If you go with the 3200K, you'd basically be buying another HPS bulb, being that they're also right around that same color temp. The sun is about 5000K, higher is blue, and lower is red. Blue is what you want for best veg performance, so, opt for the 6000K. :)
