Hi i currently have 2 400 w hps above my plants .. I also have a spare 400 w hps that i was thinking of using under my plants facing up . I realise the heat will need to be controled , so my question is "will this be worth the hastle " ? And can the undersides of the plants leave be burnt or damaged because of the intense light aswell as increase bud size on lower branches ??

Do not use on the underside of your plants. The leaves will burn. They are not made to take light for the underside. Sidelighting yes.

I am only starting my first plant but I would have to agree. Plants leaves are constructed to process light from the top of their leaves. The bottom would be either fruitless or foolhardy. Remember heat rises so you would also be throwing super heated air at the undersides of your leaves. At the very least they would dry out.

I trim some of the fan leaves off so the light can get to these lower branches (future clones) the plant has to be big enouph as it needs fan leaves.
