Lighting question

will this setup work or will the bulbs cancel each other out orget to hot.I only have room for 1light shade I have a MH 400 and HPS 400 I figured why not use em both at the same time .Am I wasting my time should I just use 1at a time.

What dimensions are you working in?

There is nothing wrong with mixing bulbs, it's actually a very good idea. I mix HPS, CMH, LED, and Tanning bulbs to get optimal spectrum distribution. That said you usually want to shoot for 60-75% HPS or Warm (<=3500k) and 25-40% 6000k+ or MH. And the opposite for veg, 60-75% MH/6000k+

As long as you can control the heat I wouldnt see it being a problem. Just remember that m.h. runs hotter than h.p.s. so you will need more ventilation than if you were to just runthe h.p.s.

That reflector of your sucks though, just FYI. White reflectors are crap, they don't reflect the light true to it's source like aluminum reflectors.
