Lighting Questions?

I am new to this whole growing thing, i just recently became a MMJ holder. I have been doing a lot of research on the indoor growing DIY. i had came across a web site that offers LED grow lights which come in comparable to your high wattage HID HPS and MD light systems which claim the LEd system produces the the same lumens and color spetrum as the HPS and Md lights depending on the configurations your buy they come in a range between 200w to 1000w equvalants with a fraction of the cost on the energy the HID demands my question is has anyone tried a LED set up? If so can you obtain the same yeild and quality of plant in the same amount of time as the HPS and MD set up with a LED light with the same Lumens and color spectrum?

ya me to, from my understanding with LED bulbs you can run those on a 12v DC system like a car battery. so you could actually make a solar panel style Circuit system and use mother nature to to make power to make mother natures finest plant. also reading around about the light spectrum these LED will produce them if you use the right pattern of LED colors and if your electrical savvy your could actual make a led board inexpensive from radio shack im just not sure if they produce enough lumens and if so u may need a light board way bigger then your whole house lol.

while you can get the same lumens and the right spectrum it is hard to grow a big bushy plant with leds as they have limited depth penetration, leds ar good for growing many small little plants, HID is the best to get big bushy buds
