I have never seen them available in the UK, where are you? I'd be interested in trying them straight in my reflector, a dutch poot with midi reflector.
the reason I use these is that you dont have to use reflectors. therefore, no heat build up, or 'hot spots'. they arent flawless, but the bare bulb, is a major plus, except burns. Thems hurt. Im in the U.S.A., and originally bought the bulbs from htgsupply.com but they had the off brand, and I now have the chrome domes original.

Yeah I get that you don't need a reflector, the reason why I am considering them is my poot is a commercial horticultural light with a ballast/reflector in one. I could use the bulb only and have a duct hanging directly above the bulb sucking heat away without having to cut a hole in the reflector. Ill check em out.

I think Im just gonna go with a 600 hps/mh because I would still have to get a ballast for the light and that just adds to the price I think I'll get a lot more use out of a hood setup. But thanks for the advice I'll definitely use it for future grows

I would get the 400w. I have mine in a 7'x2'x4' and the temps are CRAZY!!! I have to run 2 fans, open my window and keep the door open to run the 400... and that only takes it to 80. Its a pain in my ass.

I have a pretty healthy habit and I eventually want to start producing more and like I said I'm going to be moving to a bigger place soon so why buy a 400 if Im gonna want to upgrade. Ive found a 600 that says it runs lowest heat of any 600 and I think ill be able to circulate air in the room without too much trouble

Im havin the same issue right now. Im about to switch to flowering and cant decide between a 400w or 600w. Theres only 4 plants in there now but i could throw ina couple more clones if i go wit the 600w. I too am moving in a couple months to a house and will be running 2-3 600watters thats why i figure i should just buy it now instead of the 400w. My only issue is heat. Its a 2x4x4 tent and even wit a cooled hood i think it might be too much

400 would work better if its that small of a room. You could have heat issues if you don't have correct venting. PeAcE!

400 watt will more than do the job for that space, but 600 wouldnt hurt as long as you can control heat and afford it go with the 600
