I was wondering if having maybe 1 or 2 cfl's underneath or to the sides of a plant will cause it to grow more outwards?
 
I don't know the effect, but I was thinking about doing this when I start, I can't see where it would hurt......I hope someone out there has some experience with this, otherwise I will certainly give it a whirl.
 
Yeah, I saw a grow box somewhere that had florescent tubes running up and down the corners, which would seem to be the most efficient way.
 
the more light the better yes. there is a reason that plants leaves are lighter on one side than the other. thats because they cant absorb light on the bottom as well. think about it.... does the sun shine up from the ground?
 
The buds you get from the bottom won't really be that big. I myself would rather have the plant concentrate it's energy on the buds growing on top. But to each his own.
