Bonjour
Offer please offer!...
@bassman999 what do you mean by irrealistic goals compare to 1000w hid!??...I don't get it!
It id not cheap and easy to pull gpw from a 1000w hid(electric costs a/c..vmc) and harder in soil
It is easier to get gpw and more from 1000w cob in 5x5...cobs grow better in every way (compare cob to hid is like compare a V4 mustang to a V8 one...it exist...for EU roads...Blasphemous...lol!
Have a great day ★
I might have this grow confused with another one.
When I wrote that I was under the impression it was 200 watts worth of cobs that were under-driven.
I havent flowered under cobs yet, but 5x as good as HID sounds too good to be true.
I was meerly saying same yield as a 1K HPS might not be possible with 200 watts.
I am gonna re-read thread to make sure cob compliment is what I thought

Sorry guys .
I am seeing that there is 400 watts of cobs here.
With way higher efficiency and better coverage there could be similar yield to the 1000hps from a less heat and less electric grow

I have a combined 600ish watts of COB lighting in my flower room that had two 600 watt HPS hanging. So far....after 4 weeks the now eight plants I have under the COB are growing as they would under the HID's.

To be honest......I'm happily surprised....and cautiously optimistic. The beauty of all this is little or no heat from the lights.

9 ft² in the tent?
16 square feet....4x4 tent with the COBs on a 3x3 fixture.

I didnt mean to sound like a d@ck or anything, I was thinking it was 4 cobs when I said that about the 1000W comparison.
I love the setup, and am envious.
I will get to that level of light eventually.
Thanks...I believe I will do better next round. I don't usually hit my stride till the 3rd run of anything. I bet with a straight DWC tub...GH/Lucas...I'd double my yield. I must say I am impressed with the density of the (nearly) finished product. I've ran this a couple times before under HPS & the difference is huge. Who doesn't like dense overly frosty nugs?

BTW she's been chopped. Final weight coming after everything is dried. Planning my next move...Girilla Fuck...DWC...Veg & Flower under this setup...is what I'm leaning towards.

I'll keep this rolling here if you guys want to see it.

I have a generic led light that heats up so bad that it burns out its drivers (if thats what they are) if I dont run extra fans into it.
The part that might be drivers is a series of resistors and a fuse on a pcb in a plastic box lol.

Anyway there is a huge spread in efficiency potential with LED types and utilization.

I wonder if 1000W hps run at 350-400 watts would be more efficient as well

Definitely interested to see more.
Density is always nice.
Quality over quantity.
I hate larfy hard to trim buds.
I prefer to trim indicas and smoke sativas for the most part.

I am sure finding the right height for the light will take a bit of time.

I like and use simple nute system as well.

I recently switched from GH to Jacks and the plants look just as good IMO.
I used it all the way through on my outdoor and hug frosty buds.
Bough large bags on Amazon.

I'm sure you'll do better once you get used to the set up but any thoughts on your new COB light vs HPS,yield ,quality, differences?
Pretty sure I'm gonna end up around the 12 zip mark...prob a couple zips of high quality trim...with almost no larf. Pretty sure I would've hit a lb easy if I had vegged a couple weeks under the COBs prior to flipping...my biggest mistake for sure.

Besides density & shorter finish time....I'm getting some Grape overtones that I never experienced under HPS. I would say quality is higher given those things I mentioned.

I feel like I bought a new sports car & only took it around the block...time to open this bitch up ;)

I just hung my 234 watt cob panel and wow its pretty nice!
The 3000K color is way whiter HPS for sure.

If you get 12 zips from 400 watts then I should get 6 from mine lol.
I hope so, but my growing skills arent the best.
I never got more than 12-13 or so from a 600 HPS

The better you do the more hope Ill have for my grow.
Better quality and better efficiency with a faster finish!
What else could you ask for?

I'm not sure you could even keep an arc struck in a thouie at that low wattage and even if you could, the spectrum would be red shifted all to shit and it would be putting out twenty percent of its nominal lumens, tops. HID HATES to be under driven, going over by fifteen percent is much better.

I ran a MH 400 at 320 and color did noticeably shift

Bonjour
And it is the first time I am concerned about cold in the growbox...in January it is cold here (lots of mountains around French Riviera...full of snow...5ºC right now!) But I still have the 600hps in the 4x4 next to the cob so for now it is ok...but when I am going to replace it with cob too...I guess it is going to be...removing the fan on the drivers when it is cold and put it in to heat the box...
I never had this problem with hps...lol!
@bassman999 why don't you start a grow log? We could help you this way...!
I am sure you could do much better with a little help!...no?
I grow since a long time and I always pull between 440gr and 530gr from a 600hps (30d vegg and 70d bloom generally) way less in 2000 when I started indoor with WW...
I know many things about growing plant but there's much more I don't know...you have to stay humble to progress!
I know a guy who was a god of growing...he is stock in 2000...no improvement since...I told him since years that they are many new system and techniques to improve his grow but he is sure nothing is better than his setup...and he laughed when I spoke about cob..."only hype" he said!
Let me finish my bloom and show him the results (it is going to be hard he work where he live and never stay long far from his ladies...)he gonna be shock!
Have a great day ★
