there are little yellow dots on some of the fan leaves?
what could this be?

One of a few things.

1: Spidermite - if the spots are tiny individual dots on the top side of your leaf, check under the leaf for tiny dark red/brown mites which usually have tons of clear eggs around them.
2: Thrips - it's also a tiny bug, but it seems to attack the top of the leaf, making much bigger abrasions than a spider mite, and also seems to move as it eats, so the spots are sort of weird shaped, instead of perfect dots like the spidermite.

Get some organic pest control spray asap.
