Longer bud= more yield?

I have access to a couple of 11 week strains, one is by seed and called "Tijuana". The other is a clone from a breeder I know.

The seed- http://www.worldwide-marijuana-seeds.com/products/blimburn-tijuana

11 week strains have always interested me but I do not see the benefit over an 8-9 week strain if they will not yield more.

Has anyone had experience with long flowering strains? Have you noticed a larger yield when compared to shorter flowering strains?

longer flower time doesn't always mean bigger yield..
usually, the longer flowering cannabis plants, tend to be more on the sativa side of things, instead of the shorter flowering, indica variety most people seem to be growing today..
sativas tend to be more motivational, clear headed, and the experience is considered a high, vs being stoned from indicas.. indicas are usually felt more in the body, vs in the head, like a sativa.. indicas are usually used more for pain, although sativas are used for certain kinds of pain as well..
so to sum it up, usually the longer flowering it is, the more sativa it has in it.. some pure land race sativas can flower for 18 plus weeks.. the shorter flowering, usually the more indica in the strain.. indica's can be done in about 7 or 8 weeks at times.. of course this doesn't always hold true, but for the most part, it's a good rule of thumb..

yeah, see, i just went and followed your link, and this is what it says.. note the pure sativa thing, although i'm having a bit of a problem believing it's 100% sativa with only an 11 week flowering time, but you never know..

In my experience, longer flowering strains usually have lower yields but higher THC content.

The only reason longer flowering time would increase yield is because the plant has that much longer to grow. Like 4 weeks veg and 8 weeks flower is a 12 week old plant, whereas 4 week veg and 12 week flower is a 16 week old plant, and if you think about it in terms of 2 weeks in veg makes a huge difference in yield so why wouldnt the same be true in flower if the plant is still maturing over the entire 12 weeks of flower. 8 week flowering strains peak out maturity at 8 weeks, so if you leave them longer they just degrade they won't keep growing after full maturity. But a 12 week strain is still maturing over those extra 4 weeks so its still growing. Thats a lot of the reason indicas tend to increase 1.5 to 2 x their original size in flower, while sativas will usually at least double but can triple or more increase in size during flower.

Sativas do not yield more. They take longer to finish but Its not like its gonna chunk out more than any indica. As a matter of fact my indicas usually out weigh my sativas. Indicas produce fat swollen nuggets. Sativa does the lanky lank lol. Its not like indicas are mature and sativas are super mature. One just matures faster than the other and provides a different high.

I said they grow more. But ive had a super silver diesel sativa quadruple in size and even if the nugs didnt chunk up as much as my indicas the plant grew so much it would have been hard to yield with an indica what it did with the same veg time. Also it was a 15 week flower. Yield is kind of always strain dependant so the longer flowering time would make no difference if it was a crap yielding strain.

Although outdoor my sativas that finish in november always yield a ton more that my october indicas. They end up 5 or 6 feet taller so its not a huge surprise plus they seem.to veg longer.
