Trust me, I really don't give a shit, but people complain because it's one way for some and for other longer standing members it's another. If you're cool with a mod it's just a verbal warning, if you're not it's a computer generated one.... Etc... A "few" warnings here, a ban there. There's just no standardization so it's kind of BS. The rules page is ridiculous too. Just explaining how it comes across I guess.

i said if youre a new member who sincerely didnt know the rules you get a verbal warning, if youre someone who is aware or has been told verbally that its not allowed yet continue to do it you get a computer generated one.

But that's the point. They're bound by the same rules the rest of us are, so why do new members get to play dumb and get different treatment? Ignorance of the law has never been an acceptable defense anywhere.
Do they not have to agree to the same tos as the rest of us?

Its not that a long term member and a new member arent bound by same rules, each will get a verbal warning if both did the same thing and were both unaware of said issue.

everyone makes mistakes, i think its fair to give a new member a verbal warning, i get regular members verbal warnings all the time, simply asking them not to do what they did and why

ugh ive never given different treatment to anyone whether they are new or not, i dont like using the infaction/warning system so i attempt to contact all members of an offense verbally first, if they choose to continue to repeat the offense after they have responded to me , than i give them an warning because obviously they dont care.

Honestly, it is what it is, you're the boss. Whatevs. A lack of standardization and the humanizing of the job is certainly confusing. Seems like a lot of people's gripes are indeed true based on how there's a giant grey area and all warnings are subjective and depend on the individual's history like you've said. Sounds a lot like California's 3 strikes law... tends to put a lot of petty crimes behind bars and fills up the jails leaving no room for the true bad guys.
Guess I'm just annoyed I got a warning this morning after I deleted the post myself. I didn't even realize which pic I posted until it was up there. I laughed for a while once I saw it pop up and then deleted it like 5 minutes later- figured no harm no foul. Guess not.
If I was a newbie or a sock puppet I prob could have left it up with no worries.
