Acapulco & Colombian.. I hear it was a process before curing that involved scraping the stem that interdicted the transportation of minerals during the flush causing the yellow/golden hue.

ah found it:

"The production of "la mona amarilla" or gold buds is achieved by girdling or removing a strip of bark from the main stem of a nearly mature plant, thereby restricting the flow of water, nutrients, and plant products. Over several days the leaves dry up and fall off as the flowers slowly die and turn yellow. This produces the highly prized "Colombian gold" so prevalent in the early to middle 1970s (Partridge 1973)."

As to red buds/pistils?

Maybe Panama Red, Punta Roja (Columbian Red), Skunk Red Hair, not sure of any more.

I had no idea, strip the bark off. That'd be sweet.

To translate what you're doing, is a form of delayed harvesting, because you're basically giving the plant a slow death (not that it matters to the already dying plant) and in the process you're begining the curing stage with it still on the stem, still rooted.

Edit: I bet northern lights would be a good plant to test that with.

I ringed the bark off one. and it wouldn't die. Gave up on that idea, but thought if a person, at around the 4th or 5th week of flowering would take what ever color food coloring the liked and an artist brush. Tip the hairs(pistals) with your favorite color, as an accent to your final product. Hoping the color would stick. But, after hairs receded it might look pretty cool on the final bud.

ok s what about red bud because i saw a utube video that jorge crateves was in and he showed a bunch of buds in front of him and 2 were a redish color
