Looking for ideal strains for bipolar depressed and mixed episodes.

Hi, I've been reading advice and info here for a while now but have only just registered in order to post (I'm shy!).

I have bipolar and am mostly depressed, for those times I'm looking for something light that will get me into that zone where I get off my arse and get on with life. At other times I experience mixed episodes which involve a lot of anxiety and difficulty sleeping, what would be best for that?

I need something that can be soil grown indoors and has a fairly low odour as I'm in a built up area. Also, would I need separate rooms for two different strains or could they go in together?

Thanks everyone.

do some looking there its easy to look for what you are wanting

There is no worries about growing diff strains together, you just do not want a male in the mix. I try to buy femminized seeds when I can because IF they are a good seed company the seeds will not have male in them. Femminized means garuenteed females, I hate having to deal with looking for males and the extra 2 0r 3 bucks is worth my lazyness

hi :bigjoint: harvesting strains at different ripeness can really change the high. early is energetic and later is sleepy with most strains. scents can really stimulate the mind so pick the taste and smell that makes your mouth water. GDP "granddaddy purp" does it for me day or night. That strain actually sleeps "droops leaves" at night, no shit. perky everday tho

Hey, i have suffered from chronic depression(no pun intended), one brother of mine is bipolar and another has mipd schizophrenia, we all enjoy smoking armageddon because of its mostly sativa high, buzz is uplifting but not paranoia or anxiety producing, minimal cotton mouth and a citrusy lime taste when cured, produces well with little popcorn, grows like a big indica with not much leaf to trim. Kept my cutting for about 2 years, ole reliable for me. Agent orange from tga is pretty similar buzz, kinda giggly/happy high great citrusy orange taste, longer flowering time through at around 10 weeks compared to the 8-9 of the armageddon(homegrown fantaseeds, not doggies nuts)

A few strains that take away all worries for me have been GOD bud (Indica) and Burmese (sativa) is supposed to be anti- anxiety weed. I have been trying to find a good Burmese and wanted the ibl reeferman had but BCBD might be the only source that I have seen. Not many like them on here but if someone has a better source of the pure burma ibl please post. Jordan of the island might have both GOD and Burmese but not sure of a good source for the beans. Hope that helps.

So you would rather look for hermies? You seriously use feminized seeds and tbink they are safer then just culing males? Pfft where is my generation going....

Bi-polar is nothing to play around with. MJ isn't going to help a chemical imbalance. Take your proper meds and not try to self-medicate with MJ.

You clearly don't know much about feminized seeds.

Let me guess, you have never grown fem seeds yourself and parrot what someone else told you several years ago?

Sorry Althor but I disagree with you. 'Proper' meds are highly toxic and have hideous side effects. I find the right weed to be much more helpful as a mood stabilizer plus I don't pile on weight.

Thanks for the info everyone. I have bought feminized seeds in the past and will probably continue to do so.

Unfortunately that is a common problem with people who suffer from bi-polar disorder. They hate taking their medication even when it makes them 10000x easier to be around.

Doctors tell you as soon as you are diagnosed that the biggest issue they face is people who suffer with bi-polar disorder won't take their meds.

I am not bi-polar but my wife WAS. She hated taking her medication even though she was an entirely different human being when she was on her meds. She was rational, and calm, so easy to get along with, an entire night and day difference.

MJ didn't help her at all, regardless of strain if she wasn't on her meds.

I don't think any one medication (prescribed or herbal) will work for everyone. I couldn't live without my prescription anti depressants but when I have a mixed episode of bipolar (which involves overwhelming and debilitating levels of anxiety at extremely high speed) I honestly find the right cannabis works better than the sedatives that are prescribed, most of which are extremely addictive.

This is the most irresponsible thread I have ever seen on RIU.

Bi-polar is a CHEMICAL IMBALANCE.

MJ doesnt do JACK SHIT FOR CHEMICAL IMBALANCES.

If it does NOT replace the CHEMICAL missing (which it does not) then it doesn't help at all.

MJ is going to do nothing but lead this person to an early grave trying to self-medicate.

I have never had a feminized seed hermie. Seems like you must stress the crap out of your plants if that is the case.

Most drugs for Bipolar are anti-seizure. Lamictal, Depekote etc. From personal experience I can tell you that these drugs
are dangerous. If they don't kill you, they will give you other possibly permanent problems.

Is weed any better? Well, it won't kill you. Right strain might help, but remember, being bipolar you are liable to like
stuff which pushes you towards the manic phases because, well it's fun.

I think that milder strains like lowryder crosses or cbd rich strains may be worth looking into.
