looking for info on growing indica strains in tropical climate

hey all, i'm planning a grow (2wk veg indoors and flowering outdoors) and i'm debating the line up i'm going to grow. I live in florida where it is hot, humid, and rains frequently. Can anyone share their experiences of growing an indica in a similar climate and how their plant turned out.

I heard paradise seeds sensi star was mold resistant, but i'd like to hear some other experiences before buying, and if anyone else can recommend any mold resistant indicas that can grow in florida i'd appreciate it. Also what is the indica/sativa ratio i can get away with? I know a 100% indica won't make it, but could i get away with a 70/30 indica/sativa ratio, or even 80/20 indica/sativa ratio?

I'm a little surprised no one picked this one up, even to ridicule the idea of growing desert plants in the jungle! Man I hear ya - you want to grow indicas but you live in a climate that just isn't conducive to that. I know the pain - I want to grow 25 foot tall sativas that take 20+ weeks to mature but I live in the northwest so its not happening outside, not without one trick ass greenhouse. which is what you would need to fully mature an indica dominant in FL. Now, what I would do if were you, is spend a bit of time researching seed banks' descriptions of their plants and hunt for one that claims mold resistance. what you are looking for is the opposite of what most of us want - a loose flower structure. I've grown, and would recommend, reserve privada's sour diesel - it's not what I would consider the old school east coast dieseal - but its great smoke and was easy to grow. 60% indica - the buds got huge but not compact - I never had any mold. I'd focus less on the I/S ratios and look for a fast finishing, looser bud

My very first grow back in the 90's was in Ft. Lauderdale FL, in my own backyard 4 blocks from the police department.:-P

You can get away with many of the skunk hybrids down there, wish I get my hands on the old Okeechobee purple genetics...which are extinct.

What you need is Gainsville green...and I have not a clue who has those beans/cuttings.

I'll look into privada's sour diesel, thanks for the recommendation. and i'll have to read up on some smoke reports for loose bud structure, but won't that just be a phenotype so if someone grew strain x and i bought those seeds could i end up with a phenotype of compact buds???

Anyone have any other info?

You want a Indi with sativa influence. I would assume the sensi star the old one would do well. Reason I say this is. I've grown Delicious seeds Super Critical Sensi Star with great results. If your gonna try indicas here. Flower during the dry seasons in well drained loamy soils. I believe in Florida if things are done right multiple crops are possible outdoors. Stay safe good luck and don't get caught.
