looking for some advice from someone who lives and grows outside in south florida

I was just wondering if anybody from South florida could shed some light on outdoor growing down here. I moved here a year ago and have attempted it once but got nothing. It was my first time trying to grow though as well. I am sure glad those were the free seeds. If I could just get the basics that would be great. thanks
