looking to do guerrilla grow close to the beach. possible?

i have never grown outdoors so excuse me if this sounds like a terrible idea, and please inform me if it is. i like in a suburban area of new york but would like to do an outdoor grow. the only isolated areas close are small islands and inlets close to the beach which are accessible only by boat. it is sandy but i will use 5 gal pots of soil. it this climate too salty to grow? any strains anyone would recommend?

Does it get choppy in the inlets. If there is enough salt spray,it will kill the plant.

How far will they be from the water?

Well I suppose you could just somehow hose them off of salt spray every time you visit them and that should be fine.

I posted a thread about the same thing 'outdoor guerilla grow near ocean'. Salt will kill the plant if it gets too much of it. It will also cause nutrient lockout. I'm sure you can do a grow near the beach/ocean, but you have to prevent too much salt from entering the equation

It would have to be really close to be affected, like 300-400 feet.

Unless you get really bad storms. The spray can travel really far in fierce storms.Like 1000 feet.

Minor windy conditions (20-30 knots)at my parents cottage will throw salt on the windshield of their vehicle over 200 feet.No trees for shelter there though.

i havent picked out the exact spot yet. i go to college a few states away so that will have to wait till semesters over. but there are plenty of spots protected by sand dunes.

how high are the dunes? Is the inlet sheltered from big waves? If you can,go as far from the dunes as you can.

Hey Guys- I grow 150yds from the beach with prevailing onshore winds 10-25mph with tons of swell action and my girls do pretty well. My car windshield has salt daily. Burns my mango trees and tree ferns and kills tons of my other plants. I'd think you can find somewhere on one of those islands, just don't grow a monster that will get damaged by high winds. I think DR greenhorn was joking about the seaweed, but listen to him, he grows the outdoor danks.

the spot im thinking of is not directly on the ocean but protected from the waves in like a cove. pretty calm water, not worried about splash too much. my only concern with that is with the possibility of a bad storm.

I'd say you should be alright.
Are you on he New England coast? You may get the tail end of a hurricane.
Just put them back as far as possible from the dunes and babysit em well if there is a storm forcasted.
