hi, just about to start my 3rd hydroponic grow and the previous 2 have been, well, crap.
1st one the buds didn't form properly. you know how you get the little hairs on top of the bud, mine didn't, it was kinda like that the whole way down the branch and not clumped together. kinda loose and gappy, if you know what i mean. nuit's and ph were fine and 600w bulb kept a good distance. it was flowering 12/12 for 9 weeks and i got impatient and hacked them down. was an ok smoke, but just that, ok. Was that just because i cut them down early? or could it have been something else? Seen vids on youtube and it seems that the buds just grow like that.

2nd one... >sigh< lets just leave that for now.

so i'm just about to start the next lot (on order) but was hoping someone could advise me on what i can do to ensure a proper forming bud please.

cheers

Well, give them a full flowering period for sure. Find out what the strain is, and what the pro growers do with it. Also, trim the lower 1/3rd of the plant before flowering to ensure that it doesn't waste time and energy on those airy buds. I'd also advise giving them a full 24 hours of darkness before chopping them. Good luck!

thanks. will be patient with this one but i'm really stumped as to why the buds didn't form properly and want to make sure it doesn't happen again. i've looked on many sites but appears my problem is unique! really don't want to waste my time doing the same thing. don't think i'm doing anything wrong. planting stage (from cuttings) and initial set up is right...as far as i can tell from what i've read and seen. light is fine...i think...HELP!! lol

thanks dominathan. fingers crossed. Gonna try different nuit's and bloom stuff.

soil? bit to much dirt and hassle for my situation. don't really have a lot of free time to tend to them. about once a week i can properly tend to them. I can't really worry about watering them all the time. I was advised that hydro would be best for me.

it could be due to not enough light.like if your buds were airy then thats a light problem.

Yea whenever i get airy buds it's the lights or heat.

it could also be an issue with light leakage during the night cycle. i tried to teach my friend to grow but he failed on these fronts and ended up getting some meh dank.

what kind of hydroponic system are you using? Are you checking your ph and ppms? If you can only tend to your garden like once a week you better make sure3 that your resevoir is stable and doesn't flucuate ph balance. What medium are you using? In a flood and drain table with rocks I find that my ppms will rise with every resevoir change, so I just top with fresh water and ph to 5.5. Make a journal if at all possible. You just will have to find the time to stay on top of things until you dial your operation in. If your garden cant teach you a little bit of patience then nothing will, let your buds finish. Good luck.
