Low energy lighting (cfl/led) does it work?

I just started a grow with 9 6700 daylight CFLs and one 225 led panel. And i have to say that using the led panel has helped compared to the last grow I did with just the 9 cfls. My plants seem to be a bit more bushier and the leafs look a lot more healthy then my first grow. And i am using the same strain. So i wouldnt jump into using LED as your main source of light and I would NEVER use just a 225 led panel because it would fail hard without the cfls. BUT I do notice a difference with adding the LED

Yeah i've seen those led panels, i was thinking for a low cost operaiton i could go for 4 led's grow boards 225 mixed red and blue like your one, because a guy is selling 4 on ebay for 80 quid, think they are 35w each, could surround the plant in an led box and have a large cfl above, maybe even dangle a couple of smaller ones in between also, you think this would be an effective set up for 1-3 plants?

OG Kush I have been wondering the same thing about which lighting system to use. I have been an outdoor grower and recently moved to a 2 bedroom condo. I have been researching for the past year or so on CFL's vs. HPS/MH vs. LED's. I think it really comes down to what you want to spend up front in the research I have done.(Though I haven't done much research on CFL's...not knocking them) You can pick up 400/600w HPS/MH fixture w/ bulb(s) for less than or around $200 US these days. LED's are some what more expessive UFO 90w are like $175-200 US and are equivilent to around 250w of HPS each. I am personally getting ready to start my own indoor grow operation 4x2 flowering and veg areas and I am strongly leaning towards getting the LED's due to longer life, less heats, 85% engery savings compared to others and getting both blue and red wavelength ouput in both veg/flowering stages. Hope this helps a little...also check out the Grow Journals Section in the forums...there are quite a few good journals using all the referenced lighting systems.

plus rep for you man thanks, although i feel the hps will probably be more effective, i just liek the idea of using low heat, low energu, long lfie lights like you, is an investment, one that will hopefully pay off, so the 90q ufo is the equivalent of the 250watt hps? thats pretty impressive if thats the case and well worth the investment as a primary light for a small grow set up, maybe with a few led boards around also or cfl's or a mixture would do a good jon
