^well said minus cloning. I love having reliably awesome plants in the line up. I'm like a cannabis hoarder. I clone the shit out of everything.

I love the irony when someone starts a reply by saying [a version of ] "you kids and your single beans".

Hey wait....didn't you make a similar "you kids and your TGA" comment?

Ha! I know! You should have seen it before the haircut...and it STILL smells awful. A year ago I'd have never let it finish, but I wasn't pressed for the space, and someone [ I think clankie ] had just posted about how awesome a 'hot vomit' and other rank strains are in his opinion. Maybe he'll want this after I smoke enough to confirm my suspicion of awfulness?

I'm making my statement based on nothing but looks. And as far as that plant looks, like hell that's exo cheese.

I don't disagree w/ any of that, but not everyone shares a desire to go diamond hunting through several poor beans [ wasted time and space] to find that one gem that may be lurking. Not everyone has setups [ or patience ] to run mega-week strains.
yeah I got myself a haze corner with a 600 MH helps mix the spectrum in my flower room and helps with the stretch but that 1 Mango Haze pheno kinda bugged me damn thing took a good 14 weeks but yielded nice and really pretty hazy but aint too big of a deal in just one corner. But another thing about only trying 1 seed is how you can find a diamond you can also find a giant turd in the ruff. lol

I had a thread tossed by mods that thought I was hinting at trading beans w/ folks here - undesirables for undesirables. It wasn't that at all, in fact, just lamenting out loud that so many us likely hold beans that we've soured on.

I would let my chickens eat the GHS beans.
I had some that were decent, from TH/Dinafem/G13labs(nothing worth keeping)
A close friend has grown a killer phenotype from TH(mkultra)+Seedsman(sleeskunk) freebies.
We both had the same Mkultra freebies, but he got the only keeper.

I'll grow my 5x sleeskunk outdoors this year, along with a couple clones of his keeper.
His keeper taste like hash with very large+hard buds
Seedsman already gave away all their stock of sleeskunk + I doubt many will even grow it.

NOt fond of your chickens? :)

I have some of those seedsman sleeskunks, and you're right, I hadn't considered using them. Will keep an eye out for some reports.

It's been about two hours since I burnt half a joint - first sample of the 'ugly, reeky' supposedly GHS Exodus. I just have to say this:

I wanted to cull that sucker almost every day after 12 / 12. Unattractive, difficult, and almost nauseous smelling, but I never needed the space. I envisioned being able to definitively
slam GHS for the last time.

I've been supa-stoned for two hours, I swear, and I realize that's not what someone says that care's at all about his 'rep' for appreciating good herb. But I am. The buds are barely dry, and some of the reek is gone, but not all - I'd be afraid to cure it for fear the awfulness would return. The joint tastes sweet as a packet of sugar; in my mind, what Sweet Tooth might taste like. A little harsh [ quick dry] but otherwise not unpleasant in the least. I figured a couple of hits to confirm the awfulness would do it...instead, me be very stoned. :)

And that's really the point of this thread. If I ran a cheese dom [for instance] - just one - and it turned out A, I'd surely pop another right away. If it's B or less, the rest of the pack go to the end of the line - or as I call it, the backup bin. [see first post in thread] Then down the line, I'll reach back into this bin to get a few 'extra' beans to back up the next run, with the idea of giving them a chance to impress, but not in the main area of the grow. This is how I found the 2nd cheese dom that slayed me, as well as a 2nd c-99, after the first one was a PIA to run.

I have so many beans now, and jars full of fine smoke, that I see no reason to clone any longer, and my interest in growing isn't hard core....you know, running, selecting, perfecting etc as you describe - but I surely appreciate those that do. Therefore, if I have a unsatisfactory result from a couple of beans out of a pack, why should I pop more - which may [or may not] turn out similar....when I have so many others I'm just dying to try?

Besides.....having beans designated as 'backup' means 'if I need 'em, fine....if all the target beans make it, then it's not so painful to cull the extras.
Because odds are you will find B plants in almost every line.
