Low Humidity Question

Hi All,

Quick question on drying in low humidity climates. I have an ambient RH of about 10-20%. After chop, my dry room goes from 20%RH to 50%RH. Then after about 3 days it drops down to 20% again. It is drying my bud too fast so I was curious if what I decided to do to alleviate this is the best possible solution.

Essentially, I Jar early. Buds will be somewhat crispy to the touch, but still quite wet with bendy stems. I let this sit overnight and by morning it is extremely wet. I then poor the buds on some cardboard trays for a few hours until they are dry and rejar. I found if I do this for more than a few hours they get overdried. I then let jar sit overnight and it's wet again, but not as much so I just leave the jar open for a few hours and repeat till done. I determine done by placing a hydrometer in the jar and getting around 50-55% RH. Then I jar for longer periods of time. I guess all I am doing is extending the drying period by a few more days but it seems better than the alternative of insta-dried bud.

So far it seems it be working great. No mold, and especially no "hay" or "grass" smell.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

it isnt curing at 50%, I prefer getting the jar 60-63 and then storing long term.50-55 is to dry in my opinion.

Weird, I've been reading about it all morning and most people say jaring long term >60% is not a good idea. I guess ill experiment.

Anyone ever hear of putting a humidifier in a drying room? lol

humidifier is also fine if you need to get your humidity up.Just get one that you can set a specific level. It will kick on and off as needed.

I hope others chime in on the other thing, because I have always stored at 60-63 percent and never once had mold issues.I will be curious to hear what others think.

Anyone have other ideas? I am about to cut a few more and would like to know if I should be doing anything different.
