The leaves just started to curl upwards! what does that mean? they are about 3 1/2 inches tall

LST from the beginning is fine actually I think it's better to start early.

its a lil difficult because they dont have much height and the leaves are bunched up right now

i start LST after the 2nd leaf.. i use pipe cleaners to pin them to the ground. i use the joined end of tweezers to pull out anything.. you have to be careful http://www.autoflowering-cannabis.com/tie-down-low-stress-trainin.html

I lst when I grow photo strains outdoors and start around the 4th node. As for the curling id say maybe heat issue,are your lights too close?.
