Pure Afgani ,What strain is it?
I started LST when I had 2 sets of true leaves, but the genetics were a bit different. You want to lst when the main stem is still flexible. After about 2 or 3 weeks in vegging (again, strain dependant) the stem will harden and you will not be able to do lst without breaking it.
I based the affirmation that it's strain dependant on the fact that I currently grow 2 plants: a big bud and a bubblelicious. The big bud didn't show very much signs of side branches growth until I LST'd it. However, the bubblelicious just grew side branches from the start, without any LST-ing (and the main stem "woodened" after only about 10 days in vegging, so I don't know if I could lst it, even if I wanted to - without breaking the main stem, that is):Pure Afgani ,
you can lst any plant ,
first like you said start while the plant is young and the stem is flexible
also
its not strain dependent , its just how you do it ,
if you want to lst a branch but its pretty thick then you just go and bend it over then yea its gonna break
but if you take that same branch and start squeezing on it with you fingers and soften it up first
you can then bend it without breaking it
you might get little splits afterwards but that's ok ,
it will be fine ,
Why would you do that? Leaves don't grow branches. I don't even see how that would be possible, anyways, you would probably end up with a couple hundred strings attached to your plant. As ziggittyzag suggested, try a search on the forum for LST and you'll see what that's about. You can start here. I know this guide was posted around here somewhere, but can't remember now exactly where...noob question, but do lst the fans too?
ya got 1 string on the bottom of the stem to act as an anchor, and 1 tied just below the top node,i got it at about a 60 degree angle rite now, srry the pics are shit bro cant find a decent camera for the life of meWhy would you do that? @ziggity: did you just tie the base of the main stem, or the top as well? The pictures aren't very clear, sorry. That's done to counter the tying of the top, and keep your main stem in place. Check the above guide if this doesn't make sense.

True I have lst'd master kush and she's not a big fan, ak-48 goes crazy under lst, i had 16 colas on the last one I did. I would start now and get that thing nice and bushy before flowering and then hold on.
I start to spread my plants out by tying the side shoots in the direction I want them. Then those side shoots grow more tops that form the bush. I can't stress enough the fact that there is not a set way of doing it. I use plastic grow bags and then i cut up wire hangers I hook the hanger into the bag and then the other side around the stem. Sometimes I will just put a j hook on one side of the hanger and then push the straight side of the hanger in the dirt, and the hook around one of the shoots. Keep in mind that all your really trying to do is get more light to the stem to promote more side shoots, that will become large colas. So, spread that bitch out. Once your main stem is pulled lower than the side shoots it tricks those smaller shoots into thinking they are main shoots. Play around with it, and experiment. Some people say to water them first, but I disagree. The plants give much more when they are thirsty. Hope this helps shed some light, lst is one of the easiest methods of growing as soon as you get over the fear that your going to mess something up.I dont know if you were referring to me, but here it goes anyways. I just dont understand how you guys make the plant so bushy like the one mimmen did. It is a big mystery to me still!!! I will give it a try. after tying down the main stem, what do you do next? do you just wait for new growth out the bent over stem? please, i am new to all of this, so any help is greatly appreciated.
