Lumens

Ok, sounds good. There's a lot of differing opinions on this. SOmeone the other day tried to tell me wattage was more important

Wattage is important in some ways, a lot of people like to follow this theory. In optimal conditions people say you average 1 gram per watt. So in optimal conditions a 400w light would produce about 400 grams. Most small closest cultivators and home growers go with 400w/600w HID's some go higher (well more then some) but just saying lol. But thats just a way of looking at yields with good growing conditions. But lumens really count for flowering using (HPS) lamps. I have a 400w HPS for flower and use a MH conversion for veg. When I get the bulbs I try to go for the next step up. Like regular 400w HPS have about 50k lumens, I went for the upgrade and got the 55k with 30% more blue spectrum. For the MH it was 36k Lumens I think I got the 38k bulb. It might be only a little bit but its that much more I get. My next grow i'm getting a 600w HPS digi ballast pretty nice and a decent price

But then one day you decide to get SMB new book and read it and see 3 plants produce 8 oz with 6 CFL's lol
All and all I guess its user preference, go with what works. If your not satisified keep track of what your doing and your current setup and start changing things 1 at a time till you get that feeling of satisfaction we all strive for :weed:
