The only reason I decided to cut my own is because I had a bunch of leftover slabs that were sent as the wrong size, and have been sitting around taking up space for over a year. Saving a buck isn't worth it sometimes.

I'm not sure when I chopped the GP/CM x GG colas, but I've never been able to dry plants this slowly during the winter. I used to use a small humidifier, but it barely helped. This DIY one has been going through gallons a day. Chuckin clouds.

I realized that I was under my normal plant count because this crop was originally going into my smaller second tent. So I've been vegging them longer to get their size up. This also made me a complete slacker about harvesting a bunch larf that has been chillin for a couple of weeks. I did that today and it sucked. I would have just thrown it into the woods, but I'm giving it to my dad to make bubble hash.

Larf wise, it was crowded in the center where I couldn't reach. I made the mistake of dropping my scrog net too low and didn't have enough space below to properly prune. Back when I used 3 gallon pots I could crawl under and around like Solid Snake. Luckily I got a new light which will give a ton of extra head room.

Tomorrow I have to clean, hang the light and move the plants in. Then this journal will get some activity going again.

I put in some major work today. I cleaned the grow tents, hung / rearranged lights, pulled some plywood out that I used to use to give the floor a slant, moved new plants in, mixed up nutrients and watered everything. Space was an issue, so I kept having to move things to move things and then move them back.

Tomorrow I need to wash the rockwool cubes and add them to the trays, get some silicone to fix a leak in my drain, finish the mist box lids and then set them up so that I can lower the scrog and prepare for the flip. I also need to prune the mother plants, who have gone absolutely apeshit since they started getting enough heat in their room. Then I'm going to bomb both rooms because the weather has been getting pretty warm, so I want to wipe out anything that may be lurking.

Today I asked my brother if when I die he spread the myth that my last words were "Damn... My goose is cooked." Followed by Ryu's "yaww yaww yaww" death rattle when he's defeated in Street Fighter. Regardless of how I die.

The plants didn't wilt overnight with their wrappers removed, so that's good. I really like this setup. It has aspects of every experiment I've attempted in the past couple of years. I have to drive to a far away airport to pick my friend up this evening, so tomorrow I'm going to finish the lids. I've put in a lot of work the past few days. I'm looking forward to automation taking over.

I think I figured out why the slabs weren't jiving with this setup as much as when I used them last time. The leech tray closes off the sides of the slab and panda film sitting directly on the slab closed off the top. So the only air getting in was through the front and back of the slabs, which is a tiny amount of surface area.

When I ran them a few years ago they were placed in big roomy flood trays with panda film that was about 2" above the slab because the tray's walls were taller than the slabs. The slabs were exposed on all sides, giving the entire slab contact with fresh air, and in turn cranked out a beast of a root system.

The reason I switched was I didn't have a fertigation setup, and watering was tough because of the film. If I just watered through the cubes on top of the slabs it would leave parts of the slab dry. So I had to stick the wand under the panda film and work it around. I tried Blumats, but they didn't work with rockwool. So then I switched to coco cubes to try to mimic the setup, but the cubes suck.

This setup is the complete opposite, surface area wise. Nothing is touching any walls, and just changing to chunks from slabs will add a ton of surface area. So I feel like this should work well.
