SO today is the start of my 7th week that my babies have been in flower. currently i have ran into a humidity issue, i cant get the humidity down below 60 some times it gets over 65 %, thats what my meter reads. so i left my 530 cfm inline fan just run all day hopefully it will suck some of the humdidity out. my 4x4 tent is in a closet. i bought a eva dry mini dehumidifer but its not doing anything for real. also i have a oscilating tower fan in there and two 9" side fans blowing on top of the buds... DO YALL THINK I WILL BE OKAY? im worried!!!

~Also i guess i need a way to look at my trichomes whats the best way to do that? just order and pocket microscope?

~And do i need to build like a drying box or somthen how should i go about doing that?

~ and any other advice to a new guy this far in to a grow would be great!! thanks !! have a good one!

If the relative humidity outside of the tent is about the same then the fans aren't really going to help much... although a dehumidifier should unless it's a piece of shit. Damp-Rid is always an option, not very expensive and they sell something that hangs in a closet and absorbs odor and moisture. 0007591901180_215X215.jpg

RadioShack sells pocket microscopes, they'll be with the magnifying glasses and they do 60-100x.

Cardboard box with newspaper is fine for drying, any kind of box the right size should do really. Put it in a dry dark room or a closet with a fan on low if necessary. Many grow stores sell DryNets for drying herbs on.

Firstly.
Humidity. At +60% you are inviting mould if it hasn't taken hold already. A good way to spot it is to look for any bud leaves(those small little ones that stick out the buds) that are looking yellow/brown. Give them a gentle pull and if they come out easily then the chances are you have botrytis aka bud rot.

Secondly.
Air movement is your friend. As many extra Osc fans that you can put your hands on will help.

Thirdly.
Drying. If all plants are ready at the same time you could use your tent for a drying room. Assuming of course you aren't perpetual.

Fourthly.
Trichomes. These are just one way of determining when a plant is ready for harvesting. Anything from 30x-100x magnification for a scope will work fine. I personally use a 30x jewellers loupe.

Fifthly.
Next run you may want to consider a dehumidifier.

Hope this helps.

look into getting a ac unit

the one i have is 6000 btu with a remote and it dehumities just blows air around or it cools the air

this can do 2 jobs drop your humity and keep it cool in the summer

Find a mold resistant strain.
I have humidity issues too, picking air from outside, this year no problems at all although the humidity levels peaked at 84% at night.

Hey man
I have/had similar issues re humidity, at weeks 4ish my humidity was around 80-90 some nights. I used some damp rid but it didn't really do much to be honest.
So I bit the bullet and bought a dehumidifier for $200 its only a midi one but still doesn't fit in the tent. At night I leave the closet door ajar and leave the dehumidifier next to the passive intake. I noticed my humidity only went down maybe 5-10%.

I would be confident to say as long as you run your ventilation 24/7 and a fan you would be fine.

I have yet to come across any mold issues and have been growing on and off for over 10 years.
I think it's pretty rare unless your running 90%+ humidity 24/7 with no ventilation and no fans.

So I would just sit back light up a fatty and relax

Damp-Rid is good for minor to moderate humidity, if the air is really that saturated you'd need quite a bit of it. And of course there are also room size considerations, a small room or closet Damp-Rid should help.

I would suggest a couple of the hanging ones and at least one of the more traditional kind you can refill yourself. Again if the air is that saturated you're going to find the crystals melt fast. Good thing about it is that it cannot over-dry the air.

yeah so right now im freaking out the rh in my tent says 70%!!! i think it is because the probe meter is the tent in near the bottom?? But check it out, i have got two 9" fans blowing over top of the buds and a 27 inch tall oscilating tower fan blowing mad air over the buds, all the fans are running 24/7, and i got three damp rid hangers in the tent,JUST ADDED THREE MORE DAMP RID BUCKET THINGS, also a eva dry 1100 mini dehumidifier. also i have no intake. my inline fan is constantly sucking air out... remeber im in a closet in the south.... its kinda rainy and its pissing me off!!!2 of my strains are from TGA iono what they are i know they are tga gear tho, i have a sensi juicy fruit, and alien kush that smells like serious fruit! but yeah ima go to walmart and but some more damp rid iono what else to do it kinda to late for a dehumidifer i think since im almost done im in the middle of week 7.the humidity has only been an issue for real the past week and a half when it rained... like at week 5 through 6 the humidity was at 45 to 52ish %. Do u think i will be okay without a dehumidifer i have no money till next week AND THAT WILL BE WEEK 8 OF FLOWER!!!! thanks for all the help guys like for real im glad this site has my bacK

The larger, denser the buds are the more susceptible they are to botrytis. If your buds aren't really that big (let's say quarter sized nugs or smaller) or extremely dense, your humidity might not pose a problem for you. If you've got really big colas, we're taking bottle sized +, then humidity could be a major issue. I've lost some of my biggest buds to bud rot, and often you don't even realize it because everything looks pretty fine on the outside.
