Mainlining - when to flip to flower?

I’m new to growing and this is my first time mainlining. My question is how long do you wait to flip to flower after you’ve reached 8 total colas? Should I wait til it grows more or does it not matter mainlining after reaching 8 colas? Here is a picture of my plants just a couple of days ago. Let me know your thoughts or best practices.

I’m growing in Mars hydro 2.3x2.3x5 tent. Mars hydro ts1000 lights are used. FFOF soil used in 3 gallon pots.

You will yield more if you fill up your space with more colas, but if you grow just 8 per plant, they can get quite large. After trying it both ways, I prefer more colas than 8 because large dense colas are quite prone to mold inside. They are great for pics though.

Yea but I would do that next time it would take too much time to veg out more tops.

If you plan on using a chopped tomato ring for support, I would flip them now. As they stretch, position them on the outside and tie them up. Mainlining is my preferred way to grow photos (fuck all that extra work to grow for yield) and my only complaint is they get pretty top heavy. Good luck!

How are yours doing?

Here's mine two weeks after flip...

Those look great! Next run I want to flip earlier like yours in an effort to avoid my slightly uneven canopy

How many watts light, what size footprint do you have and how much vertical space? i like to go by stem trunk thickness.. the stem can potentially double into flower but probably a bit less. I like to have a minimum of pencil size stems on all plants before flowering.
