I am having some real problems germinating my seeds. I have done every single method in the book. The seeds crack, small root appears, then stops growing! These root taps should keep getting longer, but there not. I mean there shorter than 1cm. So Great right, NO. I place into cup of Fox Farm soil thinking hey, the root tap is out and seed cracked open, leave it in the soil, kept moist with Humidity dome on them for 2 weeks under a good light setup! Nothing! So I got pissed and searched for the seed in the soil and comes to find out the seed is the same as when I took it out of germination! No growth! PISSED

Now This already Happen Too 1- Red Dwarf(auto), 2-White widow seeds, 12-Deimos(budda seeds), 2- White Castle seeds.

Now that is a lot of seeds the Broke its seed shell, root tap appeared, suddenly stop growing. Left for days. Nothing. Planted, seed still the same as when I put in after 2 weeks!

Wat the HECK!!!!!!!!!!
++REP for this Help! Real Help I need! Anyone run into these problems?

Put in glass of water................wait 12 hours.................push down with finger till it sink to bottom........wait 12 hours........put down a layer of paper towel on a plate and spray with water...........put seed on paper towel.......cover with another layer of paper towel and spray till you can see the seed under the paper........cover with another plate.........check every 24 hours....never let the paper towel get dry............when tap root is about 1/2 inch long........poke hole in a good seed starting mix with a pencil or pen deep enough to cover seed with 1/4 inch of soil.........spray top of soil til it is soaked......cover with clear humidity dome, I cut the bottom off of a plastic coke bottle.......make sure soil stays damp........Voila! Works everytime for me.

Good luck man, I believe germination is the hardest thing for new growers. Once you got a system, stick to it!

i was in your shoes once...

...when i first cracked/germinated my seeds I would pop it into the medium and every few days i'd looked in on the seeds to say hi - pry open the rockwool/stg/soil starters nudging here and there etc... only to find out the seeds already small root or not ---> DIED...

...wasted so much time waiting for seed to grow, but nope!!...

...long story short, either be very careful in putting the seeds into the medium, or plant straight into medium - but more importantly LEAVE IT ALONE (even for many days) until it sprouts!!! otherwise it's going to be an expensive learning process...

I use "rapid rooters" (found at amazon or ebay). I put the seed into the hole and keep it moist (using a mister). No need to soak seed in water.

Rapid rooters can be bought with a tray or refillable packages - really don't need the tray. I bought that tray but is doesn't come with a humidity dome. I use a another dome I already had.

Before using rapid rooters I was losing about 70% of my seeds. Using rapid rooters I haven't lose any yet.

my method is just to do a glass of distilled water and wait for the roots to appear - when the seed is cracked and has any tail at all i know it is a live seed and i plant it. i've gotten about 97% success this way..
