so im currently vegging in a 4x4 with a 400mh in it.

ive got a 4x6 that i flower with thats going to be decommissioned.

im thinking either of making 2 4x4 tents with 4x4 screens in them and veg till they are full and then going to flower with a 1000hps with an xxxl hood.

or im thinking about getting a 4x8 and running 5 or 6 two month veg plants in it with 2 1000hps with xxxl hoods.

or possibly cutting 20 clones giving them a 2 week veg in the 4x4 veg tent and then smashing them in the 4x8.

ive got a million idea running thru my head on what to do and how to run it but i was interested in some good ideas that u guys have to help me figure out what to do.

i guess the best way to ask is 2 4x4 tents or 1 4x8 tent? both lights will be 1000hps in xxxl hoods. also how should i set them up to run? clones with 2 week veg, scrogg, or just monsters? with the 4x4 veg tent still in use. how would u set it up?

check out my journal man. you'll see that you don't need 1000w lights in those tents if you don't want them. you will only create height restrictions, additional cooling issues, and added electrical draw. 1 600w is perfect for a 4x4 tent and 2 is perfect for a 4x8 tent. let's you get your plants taller as well. i actually just made a huge purchase and am switching to 600w bulbs.

also, unless you have the oversized tents don't get the xxxl hoods. i made that mistake with the growlab tents. just not enough room after you hook the fan up. i'm sealed and it was still too tight. after you add the fan there will be little to no room to add ducting. i ended up ordering new radiant 8 hoods.

hmm. yeah i am stickin with the thousands the penetration is nice to have if i decide to grow bigger taller plants plus i like the density of the nugs. the fans im going to be running are 400cfm each light just for the exhaust so heat wont really be an issue. plus im going to run an 8 inch as intake just split between the tents or tent. i never took into consideration the size of the xxxl hood width and length wise tho. now i gotta get my measuring stick out. lol. plus my tents are 7 ft tall so high isnt really an issue. i only lose a foot up top with the filter and hood hooked up which still leaves me with 5.5+ feet.

if you keep the plants short then it's no worry at all really using a 1000w. i just switched cause i realized i was wasting electricity and cooling. 600w bulbs will cover the space just as well as a 1000w will and if you are growing shorter plants then what's the point to have the extra penetration? i thought i needed it too but then i realized i didn't. 600w light will penetrate plenty of canopy. if electricity or cooling are an issue you can always fall back to them.

the xxxl's are almost 40" long. add a fan to that and you are pretty much at the width of a 4x4 tent. 2 of them side by side with a fan might squeeze into a 4x8. just depends. a lot of the tents say 4x8 but range from 7'-9'. make sure to check the inner diameter of your tent. i know growlab has 2 tents they call 4x8. one is like 3'11"x7'9" or something like that. then the other one is like 4'8"x9'6" or close to that.

i would be puting the fans outside of the tent and just use ducting to link the two. xxxl hoods are way awesome with heat dispersion becuz of their just massive size. ive got one now with an xxxl and i can touch soft skin to the glass without any issues. it helps me cool my areas. a regular hood with my 1000 in it raised my temps a few degrees and i had to keep the hood a shit ton away from the plants cuz of how hot it was getting. i can literally have my thousand running 2 inches above the tops without burning thanks to the hood. but now my plans may be foiled becuz of the size of the hood.

im highly considering a vertical cooltube scrog now running 400 for veg and the thousand for flower. i can have them going in two tents and could eliminate that extra tent. just veg one while the other one is flowering and the other way around. have a harvest every few months still and save a bit of power and save space by eliminating that third light.

that sounds like a sweet setup. i'm running the xxxl's right now. i'm water cooled though so not sure how they help me with heat dispersion. i always kinda figured it was the ice box heat exchangers. i can lay my face on the glass after they have been running for 10 days straight no problem. guess the hood is helping. lol.

i've got 4 massive plants that i lst'd for 2 months going in the flower tent under a 1000w mh. they are day 12 right now. switching to the hps on day 14-15. then in another 2 weeks i'll move over 9-12 plants i have in veg right now. so i'll have a harvest in 6 weeks and another in 10 weeks. then the 2 8x8 tents are coming down and i'm putting up 3 4x8 tents. 1 for veg, 1 for a hydro system i'm gonna do and another for soil. gonna run the soil tent and the hydro tent on a flip to lessen the load on my chiller. i'll have some plants in veg i can move into the soil tent immediately. should take me a day to tear these tents down and get the new ones up. change out the chiller manifold. i'll just keep the vegging plants and the moms in the house somewhere while i'm doing it. gonna run the soil tent on a 1 month perpetual too. probably go with smaller plants in 3 gallon buckets and do 9 per light.
