"I plan to perform QWET and then use it to make carts. After a week of researching, I've developed a procedure as follows:
**1/ QWET:**
**A/ Chilling the Ingredients:**
- *Ethanol:* I'll use the "dry ice bath" method to bring the temperature down to at least -58 F for ethanol. My question is, can I put dry ice directly into ethanol to cool it rapidly, and will it alter the quality of my ethanol?
- *Buds:* After air-drying buds for 7 days, I'll manually break them and dehumidify them overnight using silica gel for the driest state. Then, I'll spread them over dry ice.
**B/ Ethanol Rinse:**
- After an hour of cooling, I'll take buds out of the dry ice and put them into a stainless steel bowl, which has been placed in the "dry ice bath" to maintain a low temperature. Then, I'll pour the cooled ethanol to proceed with rinsing. My question is whether the stainless steel material will affect the final quality, as I plan to use it to avoid glass breakage due to low temperatures. I'll soak the mixture for 5 minutes, stirring every minute.
**C/ Filtering Mixture:**
- I'll filter the mixture using unbleached coffee filter papers, possibly using two sheets.
**D/ Natural Ethanol Evaporation:**
- As I don't have the equipment for a vacuum pump setup, I'll let ethanol naturally evaporate using a fan. Do I need to decarb the mixture? If so, is my method using a double boiler with coconut oil underneath adequate? I plan to simmer for 1-2 hours until the ethanol stops bubbling and reduces in volume. Is this a correct decarb method? After simmering, I'll let it dry in front of the fan until it can be peeled off. How do I know if I've completed the QWET process at this point?
**B/ Making Carts:**
- After obtaining QWET following the above procedure, I'll mix it with EJmix at a ratio of 3ml EJmix: 2g QWET to produce 5ml of the final product. Then, I'll add terps from True Terpenes at a ratio of about 3-5% by volume to enhance the flavor of the carts.
My question for this part is: Do I need to heat Ejmix when adding QWET? What is the heating temperature?
I've presented the entire process and the questions I have for each part. I'm eager to receive feedback from those who have experience with making carts through the QWET method. Thank you for any insights."
