hi growers
so i just ordered seeds apparently they are feminized seeds
i want to make them go hermaphrodite so i can make the plant self pollinate in attempts to get more so called feminized seeds
id imagine allot of people do this so if anyone has tips and tricks to pass along id be appreciated

1st of all i grow dwc and i am only interested in growing that style

the way i am thinking of making the plant hermaphrodite would be to veg for a few weeks then flip to 10/14 hours light. once plant starts to flowers in a few weeks of light change id start leaving the door open when lights or off so i can have light leaks and will probably bend and kink the branches and be ruff with the plant and allow temps to swing all over the place. i dont know if that will work or not

i read giving the roots a cold ice bath can help the plant hermaphrodite. if anyone does this can you explain how many times and what stages of plant growth did you do it and how long did you keep them in ice water ect

How do you force a female plant to make pollen?

There are two main ways to make feminized pollen:

  1. Induce feminized pollen chemically (Recommended) – This is the "professional way" to feminize seeds, and is how most reputable seed banks and breeders create feminized seeds to sell to the public. Substances such as colloidal silver and gibberellic acid are used because they cause a female plant to produce male pollen sacs if bud sites are drenched daily for the first 3-4 weeks after the switch to 12/12. This article will give you step-by-step instructions on how to feminize cannabis seeds using this method.
  2. Rhodelization (Not Recommended!) – In the wild, some female cannabis plants will naturally start making male pollen sacs or "bananas" which can self-pollinate the plant. This happens if the plant is stressed, or if the plant is not harvested in time and buds start to die of old age. The plant is basically doing everything it can to save the next generation. This method is "natural" and these seeds will all end up being mostly female, but the problem is you're selecting for plants that naturally hermie (grow both male and female sex organs) without any chemical induction. This means the resulting seeds are much more likely to turn hermie in natural conditions too. That's a problem if you don't want seedy buds every time you harvest.
For that reason, it's highly recommended you don't feminize seeds this way, and it's a good idea to toss any and all seeds that are the result of natural herming

do you have a link to the article with them step-by-step instructions

my understanding of a feminized seed might be wrong but i thought once a good breeder produces a feminized seed it no longer contains any male genetics so i would of thought making that seed naturally hermie would still only produce fem seeds with no risk of male genetics being present

so is the chemical option the only guaranteed way to product fem seeds correctly regardless of if the starting seed was pre feminized

Easy fix! Don't buy feminized seeds and you don't encourage people to fem and sell seeds.

Buy regular seeds and get involved in not buying any more seeds.

i have thousands upon thousands or regular seeds i would never consider buying regular seeds. the entire point of buying seed is so they are feminized. i dont sell seeds and i am not looking at selling seed. i am a cheap person so id rather look in to reproducing feminized seed

i don't believe in the hole feminized seed hype but on saying that i have never grown one and i have 5 on the say so its time to start experimenting with them

Just had a run on me Hermie! Trying to figure out if it was the 50degree water that was coming out my ro I normally let it sit overnight but for some reason forgot about that step! Or putting in stakes in week 3 stabbing into the roots! Also wasn’t careful like I normally am! It was a one run deal so I didn’t pay much attention and now paying for it with some seeds! Not loaded but I don’t want to see one at all ever!
