Hey all. my plant is over 6 weeks old and today i started smelling a bit of weed smell. as i looked closer to it i think i saw some preflowering signs.
i'm not sure if those are preflowering signs, if it is a male or a female since as of today i could see them. can someone help me find out? first time growing

I'm not positive you are looking at signs of preflower, it looks a lot like new leaf growth. My clones show what are unmistakably pistils...honestly I've never seen male preflower signs as I've never seen a male plant! Healthy looking plant though!

is that two plants side by side in the purple pot, or just topped?

Thing is, my plant is only 6 weeks old, it is a topped plant and it still has 2 weeks before i put it into flowering. is it possible that these are signs? i mean i hear sex signs start showing on the 2nd or 3rd week of flowering :s

Your plant will show sex when it is sexually mature enough to produce seeds...that can be in veg or flower

We still see no clear signs of gender, you have to wait awhile more as we are merely guessing at this point

How long have you been at 12/12?

How long has it been vegging? Generally it takes longer to show pre flower sex organs because those hormones are only being produced by the plant durring lights off. So if its not getting propper darkness there are less of the flowering hormones there to make preflowers. The reason why people grow the plant on 18/6 is to ensure it is actually ready to produce bud when it is switched to 12/12 without to much of a shock period and makes the transitioning a lot easier/ faster. I run 18/6 and just before I throw it in my bud tent I give it 1 24hr lights on then throw it to 24hr darkness. After that I put it to 12/12. By the end of the first week of bud you'll know beyond a reasonable doubt if you have a male. On my ladies I see beautiful top flowers coming in by the end of the week.
