Male or female?

I say male looks to round....... pistols are pointy but someone told me that females will do this, So I would say wait a few more days. I can see what looks like where it would split open like a flower.

Thanks, I'm hoping for a female since it's one of the larger more established looking out of the bunch. I've been 12/12 for about 10 days now and the pic above is the only one so far that has shown anything either way.

I'm a little surprised by the strong smell with them being so little. Makes me even more impatient! =)

Out of the 8 that I have, that's probably the 2nd or 3rd largest and they really dwarf the others. I'm assuming they're male until I see the pistils.
As far as smoking the male leaves, haha been there, done that. Wont ever do that again. =)

Yeah honestly I've read that sex won't determine how fast a plant grows, the genetics do

Looks like a male to me, usually pistils don't form like that ever..... In the mean time I'd try to keep that one away from all the others or at least not drooping over any other ones as best as possible...don't want any pollination in case it is one....

Best of luck, let us know.

Male... on the right side you can see a pollen sac forming.

leave it there to be sure since I can see it in person to be sure.... but if I was a betting man... Id say it was a male

if it is a male, you'll have plenty of time to spot it before it drops its load on the females..
he's 100% right. but once you see them get it out!!!!!! (if your lookin for sensi)

pollen sacs can go from barely there, to open and pollenating....overnight

It's still a bit too soon to tell for sure, but it does have a ballsy look to it... Give it a few more days and you will know. You've got time between it showing as male and being able to pollinate your girls - takes about a week or more for the male flowers to mature and produce pollen. You can see the sacks puff up and swell before they burst and drop their pollen load on anything they can reach. I grew out three males from my first grow so that I could save pollen to make seeds for each strain I had. If you have space in a far off area where you can segregate the boys, I would suggest trying to grow one long enough to grab some seed making dust from him...it can save you a bundle in seed costs if you have a strain that you'd like to keep around for a while. Growing out a male will also show you exactly what to expect from a male plant, which is valuable information to have that is best learned by actually seeing it first hand.

I'm going to wait a day or two before I do any removing. My space is extremely limited so if it does turn out to be a male, it makes more room for the other potential females that I have sharing the lights right now. As fast as they're growing I imagine I'll know for sure either today or tomorrow.

I'm beginning to realize the hardest part about all of this is the waiting. Hurry up and wait.

Was hoping to see a noticeable difference when the lights came on today but no such luck. So far it's only the one that has shown anything and it's no different than when the picture was taken yesterday.

More waiting.. :-|

So here's a question.. After being on 12/12 to determine sex, is it possible to go back to 18/6 or should I keep it at 12/12 for the duration?

You can but it will likely cause minor stress. In the future just veg until they show preflowers, usually 5-7 weeks of age. No need to put into 12/12 just to determine sex. Also taking clones from a vegging plant to check sex is effective.

Thanks, gotta say I really love this site. Wealth of information and the people are really helpful.

I'll go ahead and keep them at 12/12 for the rest of the duration then. =)
