Lookz like a proper weed plant....but using LED's...i dont believe it.... ;)
Believe it or not ...
( I never lie ! )

It 's the spectrum ,Chron ...

My only "worry " is past !
History !

Now ,what remains is to pick the most efficient leds (of certain spectrums-wavelengths ) ,as time advances and leds evolve ...
This set-up has the right spectrum ( to my needs ) ,although the leds are somewhat outdated ...

Now ,with COBs around ?
Wow!
Just Wow !

Edit : See the colors in the star ?
These five colors can do wonders...
UVA/Violet - 5000°K -3000°K - 2700° K 95CRI - 640/660 nm ..

That is what I want to simulate. The movement and color changes of natural light. I want to recreate the environment of Panama and grow some Panama Red :)

I wonder whether this effect would be useful in Alaska during the winter to make people feel normal? Or in space!

Well..Fair enough ...

Then you'll have to simulate the power also (low-increasing-peak-decreasing-low )....

I'm trying the angles,instead ...

Stable power ?
Stable angles ...

( 5000K /cool on top ,warm whites-reds on sides ... )
I think it's working ...

Short ,stocky plant (most blue wls ,right above )
Better Coverage for reds/ambers ,specially while flowering ...
- Light does not illuminate buds from above (small flower area ) ,but from sideways and around the plant ...(bigger flower area ) ..
Something like this ,anyway ...

It's going to be pretty hard to beat that color combo I think. Everything is there that needs to be...and the deep reds do a great job of tightening everything up. Finito....

SDS, what are your thoughts on going with a COB-only setup. Pairing say, cree cxa 3070s @ 3000K chips with a 7-band multipchip like this vanq model: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100W-LED-grow-light-chip-7band-spectrum-UV-IR-VEG-BLOOM-for-indoor-hydroponics/291031840389

with a spectrum breakout of:
color spectrum70% (660nm + 630nm)
20%(440nm+470nm)
10%( 730nm 380nm 600nm)
My thoughts about it ?
It seems a nice combo ...
Give extra care in cooling those Cobs and the multichip board..

( 660nm red: 48 chips
630nm red :21 chips
600 nm amber : 2 chips (! ? Why not some more ? =of low efficiency ones ?)

So far so good ...

470 nm blue :11 chips (many ... )
440 nm blue :10 chips ( too many ....)

730 nm FR/NIR : 6 chips ( expect some kinda of $hit from those ones ..)
380 nm UVA : 2 chips . (Good )

Dunno ..65$ ..Ain't so cheap ....
Check these out ,also...

thanks for your feedback. I actually have a phosphor based 75W cob that just showed up (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Newest-70W-led-source-with-full-spectrum-professional-for-grow-tent/522333_1523172457.html-- it was only $33). I intend to run it with 2-3 vero18 3500K and see how well it does to compliment the white cobs. Unfortunately I don't have tons of space to work with so I'll probably wait until my next cycle.

I see what you mean. Give them the golden hour side light and the noon top light.

That plant of yours is amazing! Huge buds!

Are you seeing any difference in nute and water requirements growing under LED light? My last try I noticed that water evaporation was much slower. I think I will try a faster draining medium on my next try.

Last night I added a Kessil H350 Deep purple to my cabinet along with my H350 magenta. I was wearing my polarized sunglasses and I noticed the different strains of clones were absorbing different spectrums (the leaves were different shades of black)!

Cheers,
Mo

Yes ,water evaporation (thus rel.humidity is lower ) is slower with leds .

I'll tell you some things that I've noticed ...
Not so weird ,but nevertheless ...unspoken ...

With HID ( HPS-LPS-MH-HQI ) lights plant canopies get radiated with heat ...
That increases water uptake
(caution now..Water uptake...Not nutrient/ion assimilation along with ..No! Just plain H2O ..) ,thus
making buds 'swollen' with water ...(Specially with HPS ).
When buds get to dry ,all that water gets evaporated ...
Not so rare ,buds grown with hids ,end up,after drying ,kinda fluffy, airy ,'light' ...

While with leds...
Depending on spectrum ,there can be much more nutrient assimilation than HID..
Thing is the water ...There's not radiated heat ( long wave Infra red wls ) ..
So buds do not get 'pumped up' with water ...
They dry to a more dense plant matter .More heavy.Higher density from HID buds.
Noticeably higher .And LED buds ,of course, they do not 'shrink' -while drying-to the levels of HID buds..

Nutrients ...

Leds have somewhat a pitfall here ...
There's a really strong spectrum dependance of selective nutrient assimilation...

In short :

The more the short wavelengths dominate (more CW,NW ,blue or even violet leds ),the more proteins are being made ...
(Like chlorophylls .... ).
The plant(s) roots spread horizontaly, mainly on surface (lateral rooting ) searching for 'protein'/'enzyme' ions ..
Like Nitrogen (in forms of NO3-NH4-Urea ) ,Magnesium ,Iron,Molybdenum,Manganese,Sulphur,Cobalt,Zinc,Copper, etc.

Topsoil is usually rich on those ...

The more long wls dominating (more WW,ambers, reds, deep reds ) ,the more 'energy' is being made ..
Carbonhydrates.Starch and sugars.
The plant's main root goes deep now...
In search for water and deeper minerals ..
Like Boron,Calcium,Potassium,Phosphorus...
Minerals very useful for osmotic pressure and robustness/'stiffness'/'hardness'..
Carbonhydrates need CO2 and water .No minerals ,like proteins and enzymes do ,at vegetative stage ...

A good led spectrum has to be 'complete'....
Mj ,in order to grow under leds,in her full 'potential' needs a good spectrum .
It can grow,of course almost under any odd /bizzare light, but ....
Forget the 'full potential' thing ...

Only FR -NIR can be left out ,without any regret ...

The rest of wls ...( ~350nm up to ~700 nm ) ...
Oh,yeah ...
They have to be there ...
For everything 'else' ,to be 'in place' ,also ...
I think you got what I mean ...

Yes I did! Thank you :)

Here is one of my outdoor girls in the sun - she was vegged under the magenta Kessil at night and moved outside during the day:

Towards the end ...

160928.jpg160929.jpg160930.jpg160932.jpg160933.jpg

200 Watts at plug(for 6 weeks duration)-no air circulation-no air exchange .
Just the leds as the only electric energy consuming device.

Low electricity bill-high quality herb.
Yields ? Well ,not that bad ,I would presume from a 2' (~60 cm ) plant ....

(The only thing done to the plant ,is a harsh defoliation, two days ago ....
Nothing else... )

^^^^^I'm surrounded by defoliators ................scary...............yeah bigger pot for the pot is always a plus:)

still a very nice WR fem SDS................when are you releasing your own panels friend????? guod has been busy these days, wonder what the little devil is up too?ha

I don't think I would be releasing any panels...
I prefer to stay an unknown humble led DIYer and mj grower...
Everything I've done is open to anyone who wants to lend some ideas and turn them into money..

( And I do not have any founds whatsoever to start a company ,neither a good offer to work with/for someone else..)

I have my Kessil spinner installed and two of the lights are running. I will finish the installation today and tidy up the cords:

This is all your fault SS! hehe

Well...
I got bored of her...
I'm thinking of ..well you know...
In couple of days ...
I now she's no ready yet ...
But I my questions where answered ,by her ..
I want to get on to the next experimental led grow ...

Anyway...

She ...

210940.jpg
..is about 60 cm tall ...( 2' ) ....

210947.jpg
..living in a 10 liter (~ 2 gal ) pot...
Filled with black peat and perlite mixture ...

210942.jpg
...having nice ,golden ..ehem...curves ...
Tanned from the "led summer sunlight" ( 640-660 nm + WW 2700K CRI95 )

210941.jpg
..with tops slightly burned from rather strong " led spring sunlight "( NW 4000K CRI95 + WW 3000K )
And slightly burned leaves from slight over-fertilising ..
210944.jpg
..Soon .......

210946.jpg
...Yeeeesss...Hmmm.....

210957.jpg
...A closer look ...
...
