Many issues with new grow: lots of details

I've actually started a lot of new threads lately trying to diagnose my plants. My temp and humidity are right where I want them. Everything else seems wonky.

About my grow ;

6x6x8 grow tent with a 250W hps above currently 2 northern lights autos about 6 weeks old and about 14" tall in 3 gallon pots with Roots organics soil.
This is my first grow and I expect issues which is why I only have 2 started. I have over watered and transplanted and fed nutes with water that wasn't PHed down and everything else. Within the last 2 weeks I've had a lot of issues.

Drooping leaves for the week after transplant (about 3 weeks ago) improved for a while so I started to feed nutes at 1/3 strength but instead of weekly I watered them in about 4 times in 2 weeks with no regular water in between. I thought I was getting nute burn with some spotting on leaves and edges but on some charts that also shows as potassium and manganese deficiencies. Also the bottom sets of leaves on both plants are showing a nitrogen deficiency by turning yellow and crispy. All plant leaves feel a little crispy and sticky.

Flushed them friday morning at 6AM and have not changed anything else. Under 250 HPS with t5 for side lighting and a few cfls to fill in.

Sounds like you don't have a fixed watering schedule down, or know what your plants needs. This being your first grow I suggest taking time to brush up on your feeding, water, light,ph,and temps and how they work together by doing so you will see a lot of the mistakes for yourself and be able to correct problems before and when they occur, because sometimes certain mistakes can't be corrected and you loose your plant/s .

It sounds like your chasing your tail right now. Id slow down on the feeding and see what the plants think. Roots has lots of food in it already. All you need is a little food and a little calmag to make those autos flourish.

Besides calmag any suggestions on what to feed especially if it's a dry food as I'm afraid to keep over watering. I didn't think my soil would have much food in it but it makes sense as I didn't have any issues before starting nutes even at 1/3 strength. I feel like they are close to starting flower and I want to fix them asap if possible to save them! I'm looking into smartpots for my next plants. I love this learning process I'd just hate to see them fail so far along (for autos)

That looks like wind burn. Well the white spots do. Do you have a fan right on them? Nevermind, i can see a fan on them. Id guess the spots are from that. Nevermind, i see a fan right on them. Its probably doing that to them.

That fan isn't very strong but I wouldn't rule it out since it tends to hover over one plant a little longer and that one is the worst of the two. I'll research wind burn later on thanks for the idea. If that's hurting them I'll get a stronger fan facing a wall in there instead of a light fan on the plants.

You need to get your watering/feeding schedule under control. Keep a journal of when you give plain water and when you feed nutes. Don't rely on your memory label your plants NL1 and NL2. Let your soil dry out before you water them again.

I started a journal the other day to better keep track, thank you for the suggestion though. I think a lot of my over watering (besides the too many nutes bit) came from interpreting the soil as thirsty the wrong way. I was more going with top couple inches dry as opposed to the lifting the pot method.

Thank everyone who gives us newbies help. RIU has a great group of members!

I've never heard of that but it makes sense. Is that safe to start when they are still damp toward the bottom or should I wait a little while longer? I'm going to look more into that. Thanks. I think my biggest experiment with the 3 new seedlings will be avoiding nutes unless they ask for them. I'm not looking for monster yields starting out (hence getting autos to begin with)

You want to let your soil dry out a little but still be moist, your organic soil does it have perlite,vermiculite,sand, pines fines any thing that gives it some good drainage and aeration.
