March Madness Idea for Seed Selection Fun

I posted another version of a March Madness type tournament applied to a small grow, but have been thinking more about it and that this idea may be most fun as an exercise on paper, tethered to the actual basketball tournament.

Creativity is the only limitation, but the goal is to end up with a seed pack that wins the tournament and gets popped, a seed pack that may not have gotten chosen otherwise.

How the simplest version works:

When the actual March Madness tournament bracket comes out, have each team represent a particular pack of seeds. You can attach a pack you really want to pop to a team you think will win, or that you want to win, etc. These could be packs you already have, or packs you have been eyeing from the different sources. Based on the number of packs you have in play, you could give the same packs more than one team, or just have both sides of the bracket matching. If a seed pack ends up playing itself, well it will win and move deeper into the tournament. Point is you don’t have to have a zillion packs to do this, and some of the packs could just be ones you have been looking at buying.

For me, I would be entering packs which haven’t gotten popped to date including freebie packs. I believe that sometimes the best magic comes from the most unexpected places, and this tourney gives the seeds in the back of the box a chance to see the light.

But I could also imagine entering a bunch of Bodhi packs and others that I don’t have yet and let the tournament choose the final pack(s) for me.

The tournament could then be channeled in different ways. A final four could be the chosen packs with say a couple seeds from each of the finalists getting germinated. A sweet sixteen could be the goal, who knows. Or in the simplest version, the winner pack gets a few seeds out of that pack popped.

It comes down to giving underdogs the chance to win, enjoying the chaos, having fun, and maybe ending up planting something entirely new out of the process.

Regions in the bracket could be by cultivar type or seed source. Sativa, Indica, Auto, etc.

The actual tournament is a creative prompt but not entirely necessary to follow to do this. Give some version of this a try and let me know what you end up with, just want to get the idea out there!
