Your talking about 80 years of prohibition here bro, lots of people have been involved and they don't actually have a reason other than " Its scheduled as a class 1 drug".

In the 50's William Randolph Hurst lobbied against pot (hemp) as its paper like qualities threatened his paper mill interests... Now in the 70's - now, its the pharma. company's that realize that pot would cut into their profits.....hence the lobbying...

I'm not 100% sure, but I heard the initial reason for marijuana being made illegal is because it "made black men think they were as good as white men" when they smoked it.

I think it was smoked by mostly blacks back then.

They said you would fall under the influence of listening to jazz, and it make black men look at white women. Dupont came out with plastic when hemp was really being discovered but they spent so much money they lobbied for it to be illegal. Even during WWII the U.S. was growing it in most pacific island chains for its use in hemp and oil. They know the benefits but you cant tax a plant.

They can and do. Tobacco. The trouble with cannabis would be regulation not taxing. You better believe if cannabis were EVER to become fully legalized the government would tax shit fuck out of it. It would be difficult, given the relative ease of growing cannabis, to regulate it on a pharmaceutic level, as well as legally.

As strange as it sounds, a republican, Ron Paul, was the best/foremost chance this round.

Your right on that! Obama ain't going to do shit for you. Ron Paul would have been the closest you could have got, but highly doubt he would have been able to the law either. It's not going to change, ever. Sorry just the way it is. Laws may be loosened, but it will never become legal for non medical reasons.
