Mars Hydro FC or FC-E ?

I'm not sure brands of lights matters. Not sure plants can tell the difference. Just like they can't tell the difference between general hydroponics $20 maxibloom vs some 200$ multi bottle nutrients.
I don't care what anyone chooses to grow with. Just like seeing people growing!
Well I didn’t say brand matters to the plants did I? I just explained HLG makes a pretty good light compared to many lower quality China companies and that HLG has good customer service too.

I have seen plenty of good grows with mars lights but that’s more the grower not the lights.
The lights were adequate enough, but there are much better lights out there. Plus light companies who actually respond in a timely fashion and deal with returns if such issues ever arise, without sending out things across the world to China and waiting a good while.

Wow all that time and mars didn’t reply for nearly a year and a half. That speaks volumes. Cheap product that is readily available from Chinese factories definitely using not the top bin Samsung diodes, and questionable driver quality on the cheaper models, but returns and customer service is obviously lacking.

That’s why as much as I like saving money I’ll stay the hell away from cheap LEDs like mars and spider farmer Amazon knock offs, as I’m more than very happy with my HLGs both the 350R and the Scorpion Diablo.

Yeah, they cost me some savings, but through HLG directly I was able to use the buy now pay later option with Affirm. Idk how y’all’s credit or money is but that way I got my 350R first for around 35-40 a month payment for like 18 months but I paid it off much earlier which has no penalties too.

So now I’m in the middle of paying for my HLG Scorpion Diablo, about 6 payments out of 18 months of payments through Affirm once again, and I got it on a nice sale before HLG released the newer Scorpion Diablos with reflectors. So it was a little above $1000 with tax and shipping not like when it was 1300-1500 approximately.

HLG gets ridiculed for being pricey, but their customer service is above and beyond ANY lighting company I’ve seen so far. Even if they aren’t having a sale you can definitely email them and ask questions about which light is right for you, and they often will give you a nice coupon code at any time.

So before I get bs calling me an HLG fanboy or even a HLG representative, I never grew with LED until 2020. I got a small Crecer Lighting Panthrx mini 2 at first, and the canopy penetration wasn’t near what my CMH was capable of.

Then, I found many excellent examples of HLG grows that looked excellent, so I jumped on the first chance I had to get my 350R in 2021. Later, after upsizing my flower space by setting up a sealed walk in closet instead of a tent, I needed a much bigger light of course going from a 3x3 to nearly double the footprint between 5x5 and 6x6.

Now I have completed a crop or two under the Scorpion Diablo and I’m not going to change my lights anytime soon, unless maybe by the time they get dimmer from constant use, etc. at that point I’ll be getting a new HLG whatever they have available at that point.

Here’s a top of one bud under the Scorpion, not my best work or anything, and I know yields are heavily dependent upon genetics, plant training, grow methods, etc. I held a lighter up next to it, so y’all can see how much bigger that top is than the lighter and my hand too.

Best of luck to anyone debating LED brands and models, my advice is to do lots of research, and don’t rush into it, that’s what eventually led me to HLG’s products.

Is this supposed to be a flex of some sort?

You see those brown leaves going into the bud, that’s rot

Also 0 trichomes on that larfy looking bud

Try flexing better next time, I’d personally be embarrassed showing something like that.

I prefer HLG over all the China made LEDs I’ve seen, and you don’t, that’s cool. I don’t really care that we don’t agree, but you seem too.

This grow I’ve had multiple gear issues which is my fault of course, but a dehumidifier failure and exhaust fan failure did cause drastic temp and RH fluctuation, but I won’t hide my mistakes on here as I know I always have to learn and can always improve.

So I nearly chopped mid flower to start over completely with proper RH and temps. Shit happens sometimes, and I’ve both screwed up in the past, and had successful grows, but I’m not gonna sit here and act like I’m better than anyone.

In the post you quoted, my main points were about warranty/customer service, using top bin diodes, HLG also having very flexible payment options, I also said that too bud was definitely not my best work, but I guess that’s considered a “flex”. That’s your perception of what I said, but not the intended message at all. So I’ll keep telling you what I really meant to clear up any confusion.

I don’t see anywhere that I’ve said I’m any good at growing or ever compare myself to anyone, I literally said word for word, “not my best work or anything,” but you can definitely grow how you like with the gear you like to use, and so can I. If you have more experience than I do, that’s great. I simply am mentioning my personal preferences and positive experience with HLG.

Never did I mention anyone else’s techniques, approaches, or choices related to gear or growing at all but my own. So if you feel like you need to put down anyone for something they posted that you disagree with, go ahead, that doesn’t bother me.

I wasn’t trying to have a discussion about how my current grow was going, because I know I completely fucked it up by not having my environment dialed in properly. That post was in no way a flex, or intended to make anyone feel badly about their grow, rather it was much more my personal opinion towards LED manufacturers and an example of that even though those plants went through some hell, the buds were a decent size.

I won’t muddy the thread up any further, so this will be my last response regarding this matter.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy growing!

Positive vibes to all, and I hope everyone has a nice harvest before long!

I can personally attest to how good the se 3000 is... samsung diodes.. Maxwell driver... zero heat issues.. right now I have it at 14 inches from the tops of my plant.... no burnage....super frosty... perfect for 3x3.. 4x4 needs se5000....and right now it's on sale 319 (se3000). on sf website.. didn't check Amazon.. but I'm telling you.... between how nicely is dispenses the heat and light evenly...and you can mount the driver separate from the light. Plenty of coord....idk. I can't say enough good about it.. check it out. Mine pulls 305 watts from the wall stock.. and if you do get it.. I can show you a quick trick to make it 330-340watts..with just a screw driver.
When flowering with the SE3000, do you ramp up the wattage incrementally or just go 100% from beginning of flower?
