I'm confused, why are you upset? He stated that it wasn't as good in the price to performance aspect so you resort to name calling?

Wouldn't it be a good thing for someone to save you money and give you great information about a subject at the same time?

I just looked at the PAR output of the black dogs after 3 ft it's almost like there's no light there. So that would make it garbage to need 4-5 in a 5x5. However Mars is not a smart option for your money.

A good LED light gets great par with lower wattage, also known as being efficient. I'm getting 830-833ppfd all over my 5x5 with 800W. I can almost garentee that is better

The point is that there are facts and opinions. If people give you facts then you should research and then see if there's something better out there.

The photo attached is my light (800w) next to a 1000W de HPS.

Man I love you. I am so sick of people thinking we talk shit about lights like its a preference thing. Or like I have said a hundred times liking a light is not like liking a color. People who have a clue don't like a light because of its style or design. It's YouTube reviews. It's down to efficiency and you are absolutely 100% correct. Mars and black dog lack big time in that department.

Yes our shit does stink and yes there will always be better but what your looking at is much less efficient than a standard hps with claims to beat them out in all categories. Led only saves heat and energy if it's more efficient.
 
I just sick of the lying companies making money off hard working Americans. These Chinese companies distributing their shit LEDs in America pisses me off because they lie cheat and steal.

Then move up the something else when you see fit... Dont let these dudes, try to strong arm you into the my dicks bigger routine, they are the same ones with the lifted orange pickups cruising around town while girls and guys make fun of them.

I haven't even read past the first line yet and already need to comment. Sales pitch? I sell my skill as a home builder not lights. Saying Cree is a extremely broad. Cree makes different models if you will and different bins per model. So the nature of Mars hydro they will most likely use the cheapest of cheap and not to mention drivers and heatsyncs which have been below par in all the rest of their lights.

He clearly relates quality with prices. You see the light he referenced is $2,400 after 20% discount. Poor guy....money doesn't buy intelligence. The light doesn't even say what LEDs or drivers. Clear indicator that it's worthless. Good companies brag about the quality components.

I hate to admit it but I was this stupid once. I had friends using kind who did great shit and I picked up 2 kind k5's myself. I sat here like an idiot defending them while all these guys talked down on them. In the back of my mind I started doubting my decision. Then after 2 weeks 21 LEDs burned out. I'll post a link to the thread later. Kind paid me off to keep quiet about what happened. My lights were shipped back and they told me they were damaged in transit. I caught them in lies, even though they never admitted it I was paid. During this time I studied led and lighting very hard. Yes all lights will grow, but what you don't understand is at what cost. Not upfront but during operation. Kind epistsr LEDs are 22.5% efficient. For every 100watts of energy your plants see 22.5 watts of light with hps your plants see closer to 30 watts of light. Switch to cobs and your plants see upwards of 60%. To say epistsr led saved you from running an ac would have been the same exact thing or better with hps or a more efficient cob.
I'm sure it seems liked I'm promoting hps and that's not it either. My hps will never be used again. It's about efficiency. Not a dick measuring contest. Kind, black dog and Mars all have very very low efficiency. Costing you more each minute to light and cool. I don't have the most efficient light available but it's also in the 50+-% range which is double the cheaper brands

Yeah.... I almost dropped coin in the eBay special lights. Had my 1kw HPS making me sweat my ass off and read all the same same of all the shit led companies and figured it was true. Then just bought 2 Osram zelions because they looked more quality than the shit LEDs. Now I can spot the same same companies. They all say the same shit- very efficient- haha no numbers. Or what's best is they try to number burple compared to HPS because the wasted electricity in green and yellow color.

I guess I do not read that deep into marketing, as it is always bullshit, whether its LED's, BMW's or health food. That is just basic sales... I just do not see the point in telling the guy his LED wont work, He wanted to know about how much he would yield with a basic LED set up, and you didnt even have the decency to tell him, "about a elbow!"
 
You bought a car because it's pretty and expensive but you commute 200 miles per day. The car gets 9 miles per gallon and your defending it because it's pretty and cost 65k. We are only here to remind you it's gonna cost you a shit ton of fuel each day/week to get back and forth to work. Like your light, but understand the efficiency / gas mileage is terrible. If you want to talk about decency read my first message to him. Why did I write that and waste my time? Because I wanted to put down his purchase or try to open his eyes like I was guided. I can see that, and fair enough! Maybe my coffee did not kick in yet. Mercury was in retrograde! Who know's, shit I dont! I'm not even sure where I am at the moment.
 
Buy a Mars II is a big mistake and will end you spending more money!

My experience with Mars II 900W (5W Epistar chips)
After a lot of research I decided to get the marshydro mars II 900W, as I though it was the best quality price product out there, and despite my little space (0.7m X 0.8m) and after talk with a marshydro staff member I decide better too much than too less!
After all at this stages I never readed that an excess of light could harm the plants.
The light arrive fast, well packaged, and seems sturdy and well made, very heavy dough.
I plug the light and the brightness was just amazing! no way you could look at it without sunglasses!! (in fact after a day I ordered a glasses tinted specially to look through the red leds of those lights and don't harm the eyes and also see the true color to identify possible nutrient problems)
The sound was pretty loud (more than the expected) and so it was the heat (compared to an 400W classic metalhal).
So,first problem (in part my fault) I had to add a bigger extractor fan to palliate with the heat this monster makes.
After this change all when smooth and had a very,VERY productive harvest (15 hours trimming,with that I tell you all!)
The second run,well... I will not enter in detail to not make this even more large, but it was a complete disaster, the plants suffer to grow, did not side branch well,foxtail even in the main cola...
And at the 3rd grow after all the possible re adjustments and LOTS of headaches and money spend I find out thanks to a friend that the lights did loose most of is power !!!
For me it was unnoticeable, as I was watching them several times a day, but my friend immediately pointed to my, and after testing with the luminens par meter I was astonished to see the results, a 68% luminens down!!!
My last grow it was somehow succefull, thanks to an industrial quantities of CalMag,a good pruning and keeping the lights at no more that 20 cm, what it produced hot spots with is consequences, some blanching in the top colas,etc.. An unnecessary pain in the ass!

So, please learn from my mistakes and get another brand or even better, build your own!
I am in the process to re-convert my mars to c.o.b.'s! is the way to go!!
And philips is about to release a new horticultural led.

Happy the explanation helped man. So many people talk trash here or just try to talk knowledgable sense into people. That alone is tough to seperate. But I do feel the people in question never really graps the efficiency concept unless they understand exactly what it's about.

idk I just finished my first harvest with a mars 300w and the buds that I got from it where amazing best bud I have had in 5 years but if I can make better what is a better light company to go with that don't cost super expensive

That would be called a DIY. And the person making it is you. Otherwise timber grow light, or cutter. Plan on around $1000 and hats not too bad.

That's for a large area.

A Mars 300w light is around 30 par watts. A 50 watt cob is close to 30 par watts so for him to replace the Mars it would cost around 100 bucks and his heat would be way less than half what it is now. Pretty epic shit right? That's why Mars is trash. One little 1mm thick cob that's 1 inch in diameter replacing an entire array of pink and blue epistar LEDs.
