Master light controller question

So im going to get a controller for my lights and i was hoping someone could give some kind of answer. I been looking into them and i dont want an electrician coming out and running me a 220v outlet from the breaker box. Can the controller be ran off a normal 110v outlet? Do i have to change the breaker to match the controller. 30/50amp?

ok good u wrote this i am about to save your life /area

1 sorry no way around it ......u want/need a bonded electrician to comes out and do the work off your panel
1a if u do not do this right your whole area could go up in flames /kill u with a electrical arc
1b god forbid something bad from happening but unless it is done right the insurance ppl will say no on the claim and u get nothing from a fire


2 a master light controller means all the lights are going tho there so this means alot of power and amps (that is a master controller so all the lights are timed and powered tho one unit not a mess of breakers and wires to outlets)
2a u need it to be wired to a strong breaker .........60 amp is good (u need to do math on your total light amp pull make sure it is 10/8 under that 60amps for power up )
2b u need to have the correct wire run from the breaker to the controller (60 amp wire is not the standard build in item so will need to be run wire tho walls to set up)
2c u need someone that knows what they are doing and bonded to cover your ass as u are accessing the house electrical system ......u might not have room for a 60 amp breaker on that panel and need to run a sub panel to do it

see by u messing with the panel alone not licensed or able to sign off on the work u are exposing self to breach of contract with the insurance ppl ......if the system over loads and causes a fire they will not pay a dime because of this and u will be on the hook personally for all cost (anything burnt because of it that is not yours)........u got no choice u have to have one to do the work

your set up ........the best move is to rent a uhaul truck .......move it all in there when u are at a point u can (day for work possible 2 ) .....as for the excuse tell them u are moving in a sick relative the room needs to have a stronger breaker and outlet for the medical gear

it explains the big area and a reasonable excuse of why a uhual and a bare room .....getting the work done before they are released from hospital (rest of the story make up who what happen and all that memorize it as they will want to offer help or advice to be kind )

Just ask the right questions as you look for an electrician, are you in a medical legal state? You should be able to find a Canna friendly Electrician. An Electrician is only bound by Electrical Code, he is not there to enforce laws on you. He is wanting to ensure the safety of "personnel and property". You are going to do what you do, it isn't our place to keep you from breaking laws. Depending on your location I may be able to recommend where to look. The person you have to worry about is the inspector, this is also state depending. Since adding this large of a branch circuit would require a permit in most states, which could include an inspection. He is an actual city or county official and may have to report any Illegal activity and may legally be able to inspect the whole premises electrical. Since here in Oregon the building department is watching Permitting like a hawk and pushing Zoning laws and defined uses as it all becomes very regulated, and track grow operations but we also don't have to worry about inspectors calling popo. I have heard they actually enjoy inspecting the grow operation, and are very "chatty" about the whole thing. Emphasizing Safety.

ya i have a friend that is an electrician. just dont talk to him much and i was thinking u could just plug it into a regular plug. when i got to looking at them i saw where i was mistaken. only running 4000 watts of hps an air conditioner and a chiller.. as well as all the little pumps ect. ill prob just run 2 of my lights until i have a controller installed. thx both for response....

Normally I'd agree and tell you to get an electrician but IF your a capable person its very easy. Go get a 30 amp double pole breaker that fits your box (few types, take one in or look for brand like CH) and a #10-3 wire as long as you desire. Wire breaker, red and black go in breaker, ground on side. then Open up your box and pop it in. Just use a flashlight, AS YOULL TURN THE MAIN BREAKER OFF BEFORE you open box. Which will keep you from zapping your soft hands. Digital ballasts can be plugged right in n Magnetics need the cords switched. Its easy, if your a capable person. Just look at your dryer and copy.

Once you get up to 4000 watts I suggest a controller, but I'd get an 8000 watt one. Allow room to expand. I got a nice titan one with master timer for $50 on eBay. Just got burner and controller for $200 lol. Mad deals if your patient.

Just let me know when you wanna tap into your gas line next haha... But for real. Be careful. Don't do it unless you feel comfortable and be safe n take your time.

I suggest you harvest then hide setup and have electrican run the wire. But i would never pay someone to do that. Which is how i learned. But there nice man. Get one...

8kw = 50amp #6 wire
4kw= 30amp #10 wire
