The root zone dries out faster so the roots spread pretty fast. If you leave them too close to each other the roots actually grow from pot to pot so you know the roots are able to get through the fabric and would hope they actually air prune themselves. I get way better results than a friend who uses buckets with way less watts....but hes an idiot also
I like them but sometimes i want to go to those pots that look like they have nipples sticking out of them for air to get in. Smart pots arent rigid. Thats a pain in the ass. If you dont pack the soil at transplants just right you can get bulges or empty spots. Also if you over fill them with dirt on one side then they always take water in funny and overflow because the sides flop down.
I like them but i think id like them even more if they came with a plastic net pot that surrounded them to keep them more sturdy.
