Medical Sativa Indoor Grow Journal w/ Pictures; Feel free to give advice

Im starting a few girlies indoors for christmas chronic; I'm going to keep you updated with pictures every few days. So please subscribe to updates =D

Current Status:
Right now I'm growing the seedlings under cfls and a luminecent bulbs until I put them into 12/12 to determine the females and males.

I would like to know some opinions on lights and if I keep them on 24 hour light cycles or give them a few hours of dark. Let me know what I should do, I've been doing 24/0 so far and they stretch like crazy, I plan on topping them to get 2 branches to tie down but I'd like small bushy plants, not stretchy, skinny plants.

Pictures will be coming soon, waitng for one of the medicals to finish germinating and the other to break through the dirt and alright got one of the critical massive's vegitating with 2 sets, waiting for the third to check the sex.

Alright, so heres what I'm starting out with; nothing special as I'm still setting up their home.. Well I'm still determining how I will set it up due to cement closet walls but I'm sure ill find a way to get the light to stay up in the closet; duct tape always wins..

Anyways this is and over view shot of the plants starting and the setup, and the second is my first plant which is either ak-47, bc big bud, or white widow. the others which havent sprouted through the dirt is some sort of medical marijuana strain.

Day 2 Update..

Overview of the 3 starting (2 still not pushed through)


Noticable thired set coming out.

Sativas stretch bad indoors anyways . From what Ive researched 20/4 is best the 4 hrs gives them a chance to rest . Others will surly tell you 24/0 is better . I personally think 20/4 is better the sun doesn' stay on for 24 hrs in nature so why should it indoors? They need a rest I think it depends on the grow style too hydro grows faster so 24/0 works better .

Alright thanks for the advice; I'll definitely be giving them some dark then. Starting today they are getting 20/4; thanks

Update!
Medicals have started to come out of the dirt, one just the first leave so no point in taking a picture, the others are looking nice.

This is some strain from a long time ago, i was surprised to get a seed of this strain so I stored it, im now growing it to remember what it was haha, it'll be my little christmas present. Im only growing this one of it so hopefully its female! :


This is the medical mj breaking through, not sure on the strain as well with this, just guarnteed to be good. I will be attempting 2 plants of this strain:

I was wondering if there is any way to increase chances of the plants being female when I put them into 12/12 to sex; if there is let me know. I'm almost positive there isn't unless you clone but shout out.

Also, when is the earliest you should start to use fertilizer in the water (GRO FORMULA)? Ive been using it on the plant with 3 sets way before it had 3 sets when it was just pushing the 1 leaf set out, and it didnt burn or shrivle at all, it looks fine.

I remember reading that you should wait till the third set to add food but what if you just mix a little bit of food at the start and increase to full food at the time its 3 sets are fully developed. After, a little water bottle of food lasts 2-3 feedings with small pots.

thanks hoping for a good turn out this time. my very first grow a couple years ago with a heat lamp didnt turn out so well; kind of burned them when the flowered and stunted growth alot. But this cfl and flouresent grow should go alot better, I'm controlling the temperatures this time

Well im just going to experiment with the nutes nevermind; heres a little update ( no pictures )

ALL THE PLANTS ARE ABOVE SOIL! The last one I was waiting on broke through today Looking nice already (not really, but its my baby I gotta say that)
Also I put the one with 3 sets on it outside today to get on the cycle of flowering to determine male or female.

WISH ME THE BEST OF LUCK! Hopefully its a female!

Other than that we have a week or two until I can put those into 12 dark 12 light.

Everythings looking good so far, I hope this thread earns some subscribers!

little update, figured id bring the one I put outside back indoors and just keep it on 12/12 to check its sex, because it would be pointless to keep it outside in the cold where it could get damaged.

ALL of them have they first set of leaves, The latest one to broke through has grown quick to its first set and the other medical has its second set coming out nicely. Ill have a pic update either today or tomorrow.
