Mesh to prevent bugs from duct/exhaust

Does it need to be exactly 175 micron or nah?
No I don't think so I'd use any fine mesh I could find 250 micron is still very fine, the fly screen from a tent, a midge net, a pair of tights.

If I were using tights I'd strip the aluminium foil from some ducting to act as a support and keep them open to maintain a high flow.

Do you have an insect problem?

Edit: is this an outside thread?
No, soon I'm planning on venting my inside grow tent, outside via ducting & window plate. To keep heat down during summer. Was worried about insects flying in through the exhaust hole, getting into the inline fan/carbon filter, when the fan turns off at night.

Problem solved though, I'm going to install a fine mesh over the exhaust port.

It’s risky for your fan to be off for the night, idk what others do but my fan runs at around 10% through the night.

Cool i got an AC Infinity 6" inline with Controller 69, should i just set it to "always on" & maybe speed #2? Right now i have it set to max temp of 80 & fan speed #6, so it usually only stops at lights out. Im happy to set it up better for sure, just not sure what setting is best.

I'm not familiar with your controller and fan set up but I don't need a lot of air at night just enough to keep humidity in check but not run away with the heat.

Your climate might be different to mine a faster fan speed wouldn't help me but if you have a dry climate a faster fan speed would help you.

Set your “off“ speed to 1 so the fan will always stay running even when your parameters are ideal, then set your temps and RH you want in “auto“ and the fan will do the rest

My 6" ACI (S6+67) exhausts the space at speed 3 for 24/7 to keep air exchanged, and neg pressure. The 67 is set for a min speed 3 and max speed 6 if temp hits 87F (never has), or RH 65% (once or twice briefly). It exhausts outside thru a very short duct/vent. The other end of the fan is taped directly to a 6"x24" carbon filter.

I have only noticed a bit of spider web outside at the vent. IMO my setup needs the air exchange all the time as an environmental "must-have". No bugs or birds yet; if they crawled into the vent, they would be stopped by the fan/filter.

Wait a second are birds getting to the intake side of your exhaust or are you trying to prevent them from coming thru your discharge side. If your discharge side use a soffit cover if on your intake side you need to figure out how birds are getting into your house and grow room

Ok thanks so you set your "off" speed to 3 & "on" speed to 6. I gotta crack open this instruction manual.
