i was talking to a friend of mine and he was telling me i could use a MH bulb in in a mercury vapor ballast since there was no ignitor anyone else heard of this?
Yes you can as long as they are the same watts. Mercury vapor is being all but phased out as people are going with MH just replacing the lamps in exsiting fixtures with MV ballasts.
finally got the ballast wired up and i can confirm MH works well with the MV ballast only trouble was sylvania blubs dont work with it but phillips worked great now i got a nice little 400 watt MH for 40 bucks total
some mh sylvania bulbs require pulse ignition therefore need a mh pulse ignitor to run those globes as opposed to probe start, just be aware when purchasing mh bulbs.
