Mexi's D.I.Y butane extractor

Here is a simple but effective homeade butane exrtactor that I made using a 600ml pepsi bottle. Please read Fdd2blk's butane extractor thread for a great idea of how this method works. https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/12851-honey-oil-made-using-butane.html

First! All the parts you need!

Soda bottle. I used a 600ml.
Re-usable coffee filter.
Paper coffee filter.

The pic is pretty self explanitory! I used 3 screens overlapped, could porbably use just 1-2.

You can see the cap has a few small holes in it! I taped the lid once I filled the bottle.

I tape the paper filter over the lid and for good measure!

Small hole on bottom of bottle for butane tip!

Thats about it. As I said up top. please read fdd's honey oil thread to get a good idea of how to use this. I do not want to be responsible for ppl blowing shit up so I will not explain the method, just how to build one.

i now will double my extraction yields. thank you. my honey bee only holds about 20 grams of finely ground. i can fit 5 times that in one of these.

mate well done. thanks also for the pm as requested. can't wait to try this soon and as my grow is nearly over happy days. can i just ask how much trimmings did u put in the bottle, were they dried and cured? was any water added? or just palin old leaves and small buds? i've only one plant so a wanna do a small amount if poss!!

Nice one, I have a 3 litre pop squash bottle, just need to buy 5 tins of butane... oh, and find enough trim to fill it. :wall:

Aren't you worried about the quality of your final product using this method? Commercial extractors (like the Honey-Bee eXtractor) use high-grade PVC instead of thin PET plastic for a reason. The same reason people who grow at home only use certain metals when making theirs; the solvent apparently dissolves minute amounts of toxic material from the surface plastic into the finished material.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I've heard it repeated often enough by the people who pioneered butane extraction that I'm inclined to believe it. It's always recommended that people make their home-made ones out of pvc or copper.

Yeah, I read that too. It's in the FAQs here on RIU. I just can't find any metal piping lying around. Besides, what's a few more toxins, right?

How much butane do you force in the hole? half the bottle?

With a full bottle we used 1-1.5 cans. Fdd's oil thread shows how you know when its done. Basically if you havent done this yet, once you have you will be able to tell if there is still oil in the dripping butane, or like fdd's do a few drops on another surface if will evap right away and you will see if there is nething left.

i did it guys. got quite a bit, and for those of u who ain't done it before.... fuck me its worth the hassle. i was completely blown away and it takes quite alot to get me fucked.
Wat a sit down stoned feeling. non green said you'll be on ur back.... i actually was. i think i put to much on the paper lol... still got loads left.

This is from one plant.The device and gas cost bout £3.50 in total to make.

you can do it without apparently but you get a lot of crumbs. the coffee filter filters out all the small particles that slip thru the wire screen. just a maater of how clean you want you final product. :bigjoint:

thanks fdd.im smoking another one now and gonna roll another in a min. im smoking my weed aswell now. its dryed nicely. probably not an ounce left. been smoking loads of it already. the weed and the oil go together really well. the oil smells so pure. and takes the smell of the buds. all fruity. i just love it.
