mh bulb in an hps ballast

at the risk of asking a stupid question, i recently was playing around and put a 400w mh bulb into my 400w hps light. It lit up and held a solid light output. i understand lights pretty well and am a semi-experienced grower, but i am curious; If i ran a mh light with an hps ballast, what would be the potential downsides? early bulb failure maybe? Btw, the ballast in question is not a switchable type. thanks.

because a mh is specificllay made for mh and vice versa,one has a ignitor and one dosent

either you'll fuck up the bulb, ballast, both, or burn your house.... good luck an remember you can always call 911. Only sometimes they don't respond , lol
