Ok so Im trying to decide on what to do for veg. I dont want them to stretch out because im wanting to double top during the beggining of veg. Should I use a 4 lamp 4' t8 light for veg or use my 400w MH on 50% or 75%?

Also How tall should I let it get during veg if it can only get 3 1/2 feet tall? (strain is Big Bud White Widow mix)

Thank you so much :D

I can tell you now u shouldntve got a bb cross a space limiting grow there is a reason it's called big bud but I would get a cool tube on the 400 and drop it down way close to the plants they won't stretc then and do shortening practices such as lst, topping, and supercropping

I would use the t-8's for a couple weeks then switch to the MH until they are about 12"-14" tall. That cross will triple in size, or should anyway.

Low light is one of the big causes of stretch.
I use a 400 MH overhead with a pair of T5 fixture's as sidelights. Very bushy, very short.
By using bud spectrum in the T5's, the branches reach out for them, part of the bushy effect.
Keeping it under two feet tall should work, but I have not grown that strain, my bagseed sativa doubles, my Northern Lights merely adds half again as much.

i havnt ordered yet, Im waiting to get everything strate first. The light will be in a air cooled hood so does that mean I could drop it closer to the plants? Im completely new to this. I was told it needed to be 12-18 inches away from the plant

how close can a air cooled hood (like a cool tube) be to the top of the plant? Im still designing my cab so I need to know how tall to make it

Air-Cooled means your hood allows air to pass through it and over the bulb cooling the bulb down. If you include a fan you will be able to keep ur bulb temps lower thus your heat will be reduced. In return YES you can put your air-cooled hood closer to your plants. If your hood has glass which most hoods do thats even better for dispersing the bulb heat.

yes it would have a fan at both ends with glass under it, with that I could keep it 10 inches above?
