You can technically get very very close temp wise. Just be careful not to give them lightburn. Also depends on the footprint you want but I would go with 20inch and you can lower it a few inch after a week with no problem. They will be getting more than enough light at that distance.

It's 12 to 18 inches for a 250w it says that in the bible so why u got it so close that's a 400 watt I would have that 12 to 24 inches

He is air cooled. I have two 600 watt air cooled and there is no heat touching the cooltube. No heat above ambient anyway.
So I would have no problem putting my 600 down that far.

Dude. I read tons of shit. Two of the best books you could get at the time.
Then I started growing. Then I came here. There is alot of useful info here and alot of people that will share their knowledge.
@bkbudz is a smart guy. You can see his grows. His light is just fine. I can put my 600 that close because it's air cooled and my environment is good.
