i have a 1000 watt and 400 watts hood and was wondering if its a good idea to use both a mh and hps bulbs in my veg room? would it improve the light spectrum or should i continue with the 2 metal halides and save the hps for flowering?
thanks

Ideally you would have a 1:3 ratio of spectrum during flowering. I bet you will see better yields with both spectrum.

For veg I've had good results with a 4:1 ratio.

a lot of folks use mh/hps throughout their grow. i think there's a hood out there called growzilla that accommodates both bulbs...

by the i have and assortment of bulbs including a sun master cool deluxe 1000 watt mh, an eiko 1000 watt hp, a hortilux enhanced spectrum 400 watt hps and a plusrite 400 watt mh what would be the best combo for veg. been growing outdoors for years but now im just learning about growing inside. also both of the lights are switchable between mh and hps. thanks for the help

400w hortilux and the 1000w mh would be my choice. I would most likely start under just the 400w mh, then step it up to the 1000w mh then add the 400w hps just to save on power. Really depends on how many plants, temps, canopy level versus floor level...

right now i have 6 plants that i was planning on starting to flower in like 3 or 4 weeks there gonna be a real nice size by then. i have been learning to clone so i also have 4 clones that just rooted and are starting to grow in a homemade hydro setup. also i have 6 more clones in a clone hut, just learned about the heat mat and what a difference that made! the clone hut is off to the side from lights with a couple t12 grow bulbs. the temp varies from about 76 to 85. the room is about 5ft by 8ft with an 8 or 9 foot roof. all the plants are female sohopefully i wont lose any of them. is that too many plants for my setup?
