Might be a stupid question but..

Where on which stem are you supposed to bend/break check? The thin one that goes through the bud or the one these are connected to?

Been drying a week now, feels dry and some a little brittle. But stems I check just bend. Didn't check the bud stems. Gonna trim today and put in jars. Maybe not all, but the driest ones.

I like to buck down before the stems break when the outside of the bud is crispy but the inside still has a bit of moisture. You can bag it up, if it's too wet leave the bag open or even take it back out of the bag if really wet. If too dry you can add a number of different things to boost the moisture. Humidity packs such as boveda or integra, fresh cut weed stalks or buds, tortillas, citrus peals, there's a million options.

Bigger stems ( containing more water ) should bend and crack but not snap. Smaller stems ( containing less water ) should snap. Outside of bud should be crispy but inside still a bit moist. So when you jar them, the inside moisture travels to the outside and bud "balances" itself

Just put them in a jar for a few hours and then check them, if the buds seem to be moister than when you put them in the jar then you need to let them dry a little more. That moisture wicking out of the stem and such. The bendy check should be done on the biggest buds and you are checking the stem in the middle of the thickest part of the bud.

You should grab some cheap hygrometers to give you a better idea. If you have any question that it's too wet when you jar them, you can leave the jar slightly loose so excess gas can escape for a day or two. Still check them regularly at the beginning. Better to have faster dried weed than moldy weed.

Thx for all the great tips, appreciate it. Gonna order those packs for next run.
The stems directly connected to the bud snaps on most but not all the way through so it drops. Bigger ones cracked but didn't snap.

The ones I finished and jarred first is still showing only 48-49% rh, 70°f. I'm not sure if they are less dry to the touch, but if it can't reach 50% without burping them, is there a reason to do it? Doesn't that alone tell that they sadly missed the train and is too dry? Hope not, but have a bad feeling..
